RE: Pahoa's Island Trust Realty Broken Into! - Rob Tucker - 01-05-2009 There are already a dozen or so video cameras operating in Pahoa under the Pahoa Weed & Seed Program. Punaweb moderator RE: Pahoa's Island Trust Realty Broken Into! - Guest - 01-05-2009 Who's monitoring them 24/7 ? Where can one ask to review them? I'd like to see footage from some of them? RE: Pahoa's Island Trust Realty Broken Into! - Jon - 01-05-2009 The Island already has Police too... so I guess you don't think more are needed.... Keep the Ideas coming guys, you never know, one may come up that fixes the problem. ----------------------------------------------------------- I do not believe that America is better than everybody else... America "IS" everybody else. RE: Pahoa's Island Trust Realty Broken Into! - JWFITZ - 01-05-2009 The key is more the video stream to a public site than anything else. The rest is mere technical details. Night vision technology is cheap at this point. http://www.spyville.com/in.html The problem is no one is monitoring anything, obviously, and this is an attempt to make it convenient and cost effective to do so. If one can do so as a public service from the comfort of ones home, excellent. Even more so, I'm sure most reputable businesses whose property was protected by "web watcher" would be pretty forthcoming with some meaningful "thanks!" Practically every surf beach of note has a web cam, I don't see why the same technology to see if the "surf's up" can't be effectively utilized to see if "other stuff" is up too. Even small areas of surveillance will have positive effects. Imagine how effective this could be in quelling the drunk driving situation. . . RE: Pahoa's Island Trust Realty Broken Into! - Rob Tucker - 01-05-2009 Damon, I told you the video cameras were put in by the Weed & Seed Program. Talk to them. RE: Pahoa's Island Trust Realty Broken Into! - Dave M - 01-05-2009 Haole is the spelling. Sorry for the thread disruption. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited by - Kapohocat on 01/05/2009 12:32:59 LOL.. you edited my work and that's it..? I spelled Houlie wrong. And you felt compelled to point that out. As well the fact that you wrote two sentences and required an edit makes me wonder. Interesting.. I recently, this thread, made my first edit to my work and that was to add a quote, I left out. If I started pointing out all the typos and miss spelled words here, including mine, I'd never get a real post done. But thank you for taking the time to point that out. I can feel the love. Oh, keep an eye on me for Coque/frogs I struggle with that one as well. [:0] "Weed & Seed Program." Is this the program that protects us from all the rabid weed growers and smokers? If this is the case then yeah Damon I'm sure the DEA or who ever (or is it whomever) would be happy to let you see their tapes. OK, I'm being facetious.. but if you got shot.. RE: Pahoa's Island Trust Realty Broken Into! - Dave M - 01-05-2009 Thanks Bob, So I wonder what the problem is if these cameras are there and functional why aren't they having any deterrent effects. I guess functional may be the key word here. Seems like a waste of money to me. Well unless they're dummies(the cameras). Blessings, dave "It doesn't mean that much to me.. to mean that much to you." Neil Young RE: Pahoa's Island Trust Realty Broken Into! - missydog1 - 01-05-2009 Dave, I guess some typos or misspellings stand out more than others, because I too noticed haole was wrong in a big way. I think with certain words, of another culture, we care more about getting them right ... and someone else may read it and adopt that spelling. I wouldn't take it as such a nitpick. It's how we learn to use Hawaiian words properly. |
