I agree with John, I have not gone to the mainland since we moved here, but it will be a restaurant road show when we do and I am bringing empty suitcases to fill with foodstuffs that are not available here...

How about a place that serves Argentine steaks?

Any attempts at bringing in a Dutch Mexican food restaurant, (salted beef enchilada anyone?), should be opposed.

Dominic Yagong sent me an illustration of what is described as a new venture for the Hamakua Coast.

The Dutch-Hawaiian Cheesery.

Very cute logo of a surfing Holstein.

Ya gotta admit. It would be new and unusual.

The illustration gave me the impression that it might be located in the former nursery adjacent to Tex's in Honokaa. Not sure about that though.

There is no "former nursery" next to Tex's it is a real live Nursery. The woman that owned Tex's sold the restaurant and re-opened the nursery.

Good Asian Francine? Try the "hidden" Garden Snack Shop on the back side of the Garden Exchange in Hilo. It is amazing fresh local produce with a Thai flavor. Huge portions and good prices, but most of all everything is extremely fresh and healthy. Try the Cashew salad, it is totally the bomb.

LOL... I am sure that is what I will be Cat. [Big Grin]Meanwhile, I am going to Honolulu for the first time on Friday. I am going to cover the Made in Hawaii Expo and to make a "Whole Foods Run". Anyone have any other "must do" foodie suggestions while I am there?

You could be right. I haven't been there in a few months. Last time I went through the nursery was closed - out of business.

There is an Indian restaurant close to the university. I can't remember the name but you shouldn't miss it.
