RE: Fukushima - kalakoa - 08-26-2013 If Tepco has been "criminally negligent" with their environmental impact, what does that make HELCO? How about all those coal-fired plants on the mainland? Burning stuff to make power will eventually poison the planet. It just happens that the radioactive kind shows its effects much sooner than coal (or diesel, or oil, etc). The government will make sure that these "job creators" do not suffer "burdensome" regulations on their pollution. Media will report very "gently" on the horrible side effects of the "energy industry". (Only the catastrophic failures are really covered, because it's still sad when people die.) A few individuals point out the glaringly obvious probems, but they are quickly labeled "crackpot" or "doomsayer". I'm pretty sure this planet is past the tipping point. Enjoy what you can, while you can. RE: Fukushima - Rob Tucker - 08-26-2013 Lets all mark our calendars and see how it shapes up in six months. afwjam is saying something, he's not sure what, will be coming our way about that time. I predict it will be more United flights from L.A. RE: Fukushima - PaulW - 08-26-2013 I predict a lot more Chinese tourists in 6 months and they are going to have quite an effect on the economy - they are the biggest spenders of all. RE: Fukushima - whalesong - 08-26-2013 The University of Hawaii’s International Pacific Research Center created a graphic showing the projected dispersion of debris from Japan: While many people assume that the ocean will dilute the Fukushima radiation, a previously-secret 1955 U.S. government report concluded that the ocean may not adequately dilute radiation from nuclear accidents, and there could be “pockets” and “streams” of highly-concentrated radiation.[!] Read more at http://www.naturalcuresnotmedicine.com/2013/08/west-coast-getting-drilled-with.html#81AozRX3Ag0QsWR5.99 http://www.naturalcuresnotmedicine.com/2013/08/west-coast-getting-drilled-with.html#5dWw0vY1x4LyYcah.99 RE: Fukushima - PaulW - 08-26-2013 That website is a joke. Surely you can't be serious. RE: Fukushima - kalakoa - 08-27-2013 This website is sometimes a joke. I assume nobody is serious. RE: Fukushima - Bullwinkle - 08-27-2013 Another day - another radiated Tuna story - this seems story / investigation of possible effects on migratory marine life to be starting to snowball after a slow start http://www.dailypaul.com/297053/radioactive-bluefin-tuna-caught-off-california-coast-damn-im-gonna-miss-sushi RE: Fukushima - Rob Tucker - 08-27-2013 Perhaps the tuna will benefit from Fukushima. The way things were heading we were going to wipe them out. RE: Fukushima - Bullwinkle - 08-27-2013 If one looks at the rate of population increase since the advent of fossil fuel and steam .... same could be said for the general population self reliance and a kind climate will continue to provide a haven for those trying to opt out and hedge our bets in Hawaii so sad the bad news continues to follow us here....
