RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - Wao nahele kane - 03-20-2014 Kelena, That description takes me all the way back to the 1960's, the Seattle Pike Street market. The only thing missing was the additional stench of patchouli. RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - coastal - 03-20-2014 @rocket man. I grew up in Cupertino as well. Right around the corner from DeAnza College. Apricot orchards they were. Mariani was the family who owned the land that Apple HQ is on now. Grew up in 60s and 70s too. Small world. RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - malolo - 03-20-2014 Frankly, I'm surprised Russell has yet to add a solar-heated showering-facility. Were such a thing to become a reality, re-election would be a cinch! RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - Todd H - 03-21-2014 quote:Kelena - Thanks for the recon mission to Island Naturals...too funny! Have you (or anyone else on Punatalk) been to the Saturday SPACE Market? How does it compare/contrast with the aforementioned market in Pahoa? Todd RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - kalakoa - 03-21-2014 SPACE market feels like stepping through a spacetime rift ... suddenly you're in Santa Cruz. RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - Kelena - 03-21-2014 I haven't been to the Space Market yet and I am ashamed of myself for not going. An acquaintance sells some amazing one-of-a kind products there that come right from his place and I have been meaning to go. It's just so early in the morning and I am not a morning person. Or a noon person. Or an afternoon guy. Or an evening person. I just wanna bang on the gong all day. I think there is a spot waiting for me at the picnic table in front of Island Naturals. A few more years on the island and I think I will be there. I'll be singing "Delta Dawn" with my volcano-ravaged voice. I think they need to do a study on sulfur dioxide and brain cells. RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - Carey - 03-21-2014 Yah, that punawebber has an amazing array of produce & is bringing in yellow dragonfruit tomorrow...so...well...YELLOW DRAGONFRUIT and buddah hands,,,and....oh you gotta go! SPACE market is a great place to sample a lot of what East Hawaii has to offer....honey, bananas,(heck fruit of an amazing variety) teas, coffee, crystals & potions, all in the colorfully amazing SPACE theater...so you are able to experience it all in the 'theater of life' I actually like the look of the SPACE market more than the grey tarp farmers markets...well, I just do not like the look of the grey tarps.... something inside of me riles at the fact they do need replacing as often here as they do & are then just trash...and they look so...rusty refugee... rather than tropical market... but that is just my opinion... RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - kalakoa - 03-21-2014 quote: I hadn't really thought that far ahead, and now you've given me something I can aspire to. Thank you. RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - Delta9r - 03-21-2014 Rusty refugee! Hilarious! And so apt. Why can't they build pili grass hale like the old days? "Life is labor, and all that is good in life comes from that labor..."
RE: People watching @ Island Naturals - Kelena - 03-22-2014 I have one thing to say about those people hanging out in front of the Island Naturals in Pahoa -- I think they are all pretty nice in general and nice to each other. I love this sign I used to see everywhere in New Orleans: Be nice of leave! |
