RE: The Great Spirit - Punatic007 - 09-15-2015 quote: Oh yes they are some the worst racists around. It it technically referred to as "reverse racism", however it's still racism with a definite twist of revenge. The TMT protesters are classic examples of this, their racism is so venomous they cared nothing for all the employees, the potential devastating economic repercussions for all residents of the island. Many many people have been and can still be adversely affected yet the protesters keep it up cause the white man done me wrong. RE: The Great Spirit - kalakoa - 09-15-2015 technically referred to as "reverse racism" No. This presumes that one side is still "right". RE: The Great Spirit - malolo - 09-15-2015 Sincere thanks for this post, opihikao. I agree. Our families, communities, and planet as a whole would benefit greatly if more of us took these suggestions to heart. Life, as you said elsewhere, is indeed short. Myriad opportunities each and every day to focus on the beautiful. Thank you for the reminder. RE: The Great Spirit - rbbyrd - 09-16-2015 quote: Channeling Haunani? So if "As a population they are not even in the position to be racist", that makes it ok for native Americans and Hawaiians, or any other race/ethnicity, other than Caucasians, to use the "N" word? When Caucasians use the "N" word, it's considered racism. When other races/ethnicities use it, it's considered a what....."lapse in judgement"? Looking forward to having this cleared up. RB Byrd Flower Mound, TX RE: The Great Spirit - Derrick Barnicoat - 09-16-2015 You are obviously free to use the words of your choosing. I am personally not comfortable with anyone using that word but we have freedom of speech, supposedly, so if people want to talk like a slave trader then it is their karma. Realize that if you use a word that people were bought, sold, raped, murdered and exploited under it's going to hurt people's feelings and some people will get angry just because of the connotation. Use that word and people will make certain judgements about you. You use words like that and people will assume you are a certain type of person. You want to talk like a nazi though, have at it. I won't be hanging around you too much. I chock name calling up to ignorance and generally foul behavior but racism is a much, much larger issue. I don't know how old you are but you sound like you have graduated elementary school. So I don't have to explain to you how to not be an asshole. It's up to you to figure that out. RE: The Great Spirit - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 09-16-2015 I don't have to explain to you how to not be an asshole. It's up to you to figure that out. Truer words were never spoken. It's certainly not your job description. It's only a problem when someone else hasn't yet figured out it's part of THEIR job description. RE: The Great Spirit - PunaMauka2 - 09-16-2015 Derrick, your posts in this thread don't make logical sense. RE: The Great Spirit - rbbyrd - 09-16-2015 quote: Very interesting response: "I chock name calling up to ignorance and generally foul behavior...." "So I don't have to explain to you how to not be an asshole." Your words, not mine. Let me rephrase the question. Given that the word "haole" has, over the years, come to mean "white person", would it be racist/racism when a native Hawaiian calls a white person a "f****** haole"? This time try to actually answer the question without insults and name-calling. I'll stipulate that I'm an asshole; my wife tells me that on a daily basis. RB Byrd Flower Mound, TX RE: The Great Spirit - pahoated - 09-16-2015 It has to be acknowledged that there is race. To refuse to admit that something is true because you have programmed yourself to find it unpleasant is lying to yourself. Hold the planet in your hand, and trace the race boundary circles in each region. There is the African race, the Asian race, the European race, the Polynesian race and the First Nation race. These were separated for long times due to geological obstacles. Now, they are blending (the term "melting pot" is stupid, that separates materials). It is the European race that emerged from its geographical area and proceeded to judge all other races inferior. If you look at the other races, Africans, Asians, Aborigines, Indians, Polynesians, their DNA for eye and hair color is brown and black. It is only in the European race that we see blue, green, purple, gray eyes and red, blonde, brunette hair, now found to be due to mutations. DNA analysis is showing the European race has the most Neanderthal DNA, spread by migration over time, and further findings may identify these Cro-Magnon mutations are due to Neanderthal DNA. Of course, reason and rationality says to move forward as one species. However, whitewashing the past is unacceptable, especially if the white superiority emotional conviction stays firmly in place, only going covert because of the law. "Aloha also means goodbye. Aloha!" RE: The Great Spirit - kalakoa - 09-16-2015 It has to be acknowledged that there is race. US Government disagrees: census forms clearly indicate that "hispanic is not a race". Speaks volumes. |
