I don't think we really know yet that he shot him twice. Since a shotgun was used, at a distance we do not know, the deceased, unless the shooter used "slugs", is going to have a lot of wounds. There is a lot we don't know here yet.

The police let the shooter go home (without bail?), so, maybe there is reason not to charge him?

Everything else being equal, coming onto my property threatening me with a baseball bat? My life would be in danger. I would try exactly what I did 40 years ago when a home invasion happened to me at night. Try to hold the bad guy for the cops. But, my guy wasn't armed. This guy was. That is a game changer. I would have to have lived with a different result.

If Thomas was taunting Edwards by "tapping" his free hand with the bat with verbal taunts, the bat itself would break the spray pattern from a 12 gauge. The question be, are there pellets consistent to the spray pattern on the baseball bat to determine a single shot was fired?

Why not wait for the trial to find out what happened.

What fun is that?

Myself, I find this incident somewhat refreshing for its simple honesty...

Assuming your statement is a serious one, mind elaborating on it? Curious how an incident involving a homicide investigation into a fatal shooting related to an apparent love triangle dispute is characterized as refreshing. ...or fun.

Not saying "fun", but:

an apparent love triangle dispute

There's a level of personal involvement, these people were willing to take a stand for their beliefs, and no innocent bystanders were affected.

Compare/contrast with the shootout at the McDonald's drive-through.

If I had to choose, I would pick the former.

Bizarre concept, measuring the value of so-called beliefs by the threat of bodily injury and resulting fatality by gunshot. What exactly do you see as the beliefs to be admired here?

And picking & choosing one fatal shooting incident over another? How strange.

What exactly do you see as the beliefs to be admired here?

Again: assuming that people are going to cause bodily harm to one another, simply because we as a species have not evolved beyond this...

Which would you rather have? Random violence in the street, or a personal dispute between adults? Injured bystanders? "Be on the lookout for..." or someone calling the police to turn themselves in?

Compared to some of the crap that happens around here, this incident was downright civilized, to the extent that such a thing is even possible for a fatal shooting.

How strange.

Agreed.

How in the world do you arrive at limiting all the possible scenarios involving so-called beliefs and disputes into being forced to choose between the incredibly narrow options you provide?

Congratulations kalakoa. You have just provided the weirdest (and disturbing) either/or false dilemma fallacies I have seen in awhile.
