To keep the humor going, here's a true "justice" story that concerns sex, drugs (alcohol), and rock and roll...
It concerns a local strip joint that opened up a block away from my home when I lived in suburban NY. A few of the locals began to picket the place, and they dedicated themselves to it day after day. They weren't there because of booze, or music. They were there because (usually) pretty young girls danced and teased guys who liked to watch topless, (usually) pretty young girls dance and tease them. It's called harmless fun and entertainment. But the club finally got busted for serving a beer to a "minor" and the owners lost their liquor license. There was suspicion that it was a setup, but regardless, the protesters screamed victory to the point of religious rapture until the owners reopened the place as a totally nude bar, and since they couldn't serve alcohol, the legal age for admission was dropped from 21 to 18; a double-whammy since the kid who the government wouldn't allow to have a beer could now legally enter and have (usually) pretty young girls wearing absolutely nothing dance and tease him, and those who wanted a bit of booze before enjoyig a bit of fun and entertainment would have their drinks before entering. What a stupid, bizarre joke on the prudes of the world.

Got to put in my mite of info. If people are seriously worried about their children being molested, it is not the adult store crowd, it is more often the people who know the family. It takes all kinds. To help keep your children safe, be sure they can talk to you about anything. And question them about anything, or anyone. Sex with children is unfortunately way too commonly done in their own or their neighbor's home.
But back to the fun topic of adults...Have you seen the shows on the Current TV channel about the unusual and quirky sexual relationships in the world? People in love with objects. Dolls, bridges, walls, whatever. They give me a huge chuckle.

You guys are so informative, I didn't even know there was an adult store in that location, nice to know. As for kids, I feel you can't control the world and what they are exposed to all the time. you just make an honest effort, talk to them and teach them as best you can and hopefully they will gravitate in that direction. I remember as a kid coming of age a buddy and I ditched school to catch the only matinee showing of Woody Allen's movie "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex but Were Afraid to Ask" It played at a theater that mostly played foreign and R rated films in our small town. We just thought it was a hoot. There were probably 20 people in the whole theater, and to our suprise after the movie ended and the lights came up there were my parents sitting about five rows in front of us. Oops! Er, hi mom,dad, talk to you later we got to get back to class. Suprisingly it was never mentioned, I guess they didn't want to have to explain what they were doing there.

Ah yes, perpetuating the myths of our Puritanical founding mothers and fathers and the extreme right. Let's all remain in denial and ignore the statistical truth. Sex is and will always be part of life. In Germany, and most of Europe the sex shops, as you call them, are in the malls ( open and notorious) and the causes and effects mentioned above in many forms simply do not exist. Wow they even have legal prostitution and that certaionly has dameged the childern....NOT EVEN. OMG ....I just remembered that Spencer's gifts has that terrible inventory right in the Prince Kuhio Mall. Let's close them down and flog everyone that walks by the place because they are questionable characters with potentially dangerous motives. HELLO !!!!!

OK, today I went over there, no not to the adult store which is near the tatoo shop which is near the dive bar, but to "Demon MMA" which according to the hand written sign, because of "community concern" is CHANGING it's name to something less offensive like Evan's Athletics.
This is just sad and I'm glad I'm still living in southeast Idaho, oh wait, I'm not living in a repressive society that makes me drive a couple of hours to Wyoming for real beer... I live in Puna, the last place I expected such censorship.
