RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - kalakoa - 10-14-2015 http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/news/local-news/emergency-rule-violators-won-t-face-charges In a statement, Native Hawaiian Legal Corp. attorney David Kauila Kopper, who represented E. Kalani Flores in his lawsuit challenging the rules, said dropping the charges is the "right thing to do." :However, it does not make up for the months on Mauna Kea that Native Hawaiian cultural practitioners and the public lost to the state's invalid rule," Kopper said. Who makes up for the TMT construction crews' lost time? Better question: who makes up for the loss of staff who couldn't afford to wait around until construction actually starts? Or does TMT pay all their salaries in the interim? RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - PaulW - 10-16-2015 Far be it from me to jump to any conclusions here, but what right-minded person would want to find themselves on the same side as the people who did this: https://local.nixle.com/alert/5512848/?sub_id=1800774 RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - geochem - 10-17-2015 quote:I think this deserves its own thread... This is the mindset of the TMT opponents - they can do as they damned well please and too bad for anyone that disagrees with them. RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - AKpilot - 10-17-2015 Poop flingers are at it again..........For Shame! AKpilot We're all here, because we're not all there! RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - TomK - 10-17-2015 I think we should be careful here. We don't know for a fact that the fibre optics line was cut by the protesters. However, the amount of criminal activity, including vandalism, damage to property, intimidation and threats of violence suddenly shot up after the "protectors" arrived and camped out near the VIS. Even if this activity was not done by protesters, it's clear that the "protectors" did a pretty bad job at protecting the mountain from criminals and mindless thugs. RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - dmbwest - 10-17-2015 Oh Tom, 700' is a long way to 'wander off' let alone dig something up ... Prolly 98% darkness and 99%, no way anyone coming up the road to check ... Friggin' cowards. sorry, aloha, pog RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - AKpilot - 10-18-2015 Tom, any idea how long the VIS folks were out of work? These are some of the most knowledgeable folks regarding not only the nights sky, but of Hawaiian's beliefs regarding the Mountain and the Heavens. It's a real shame they got dragged into this mess. AKpilot We're all here, because we're not all there! RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - dmbwest - 10-18-2015 He can't answer, line cut ... : ) Have a peaceful Sunday. aloha, pog RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - TomK - 10-18-2015 Funny, Pog! AK, I'm not certain, but I think all the VIS staff remained employed during its closure, although I know they were very close to laying people off at one stage. RE: TMT Work to Resume Says Ige! - AKpilot - 10-18-2015 Ground Control to Major Tom........ We're all here, because we're not all there! |
