RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Kaimana - 07-28-2019 Sen. Kahele talks Mauna Kea management bill(2018) https://youtu.be/ge3o3Te8CuQ RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - kalakoa - 07-28-2019 Mismanagement: plat entire subdivisions with full infrastructure (paved roads, piped water, electricity, etc). Then, don't allow anyone to live there, even though the land was specifically set aside for that purpose. Still looking for an explanation as to how stopping TMT will solve this problem. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Rob Tucker - 07-28-2019 Kaimana, Pelase edit your post to include what may expect to see on the lick provided. Mahalo. Assume the best and ask questions. Punaweb moderator RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Frank - 07-28-2019 quote: yep, to a certain extent...State, UH, garner huge amounts of money generated on ceded lands which they manage for a fee...left overs are given over to OHA which gives to DHHL...that is how I see it to be, if different please correct me. Who oversees the State or UH to be fair on the split? eta...once resolved, who will oversee the new OHA? RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Frank - 07-28-2019 quote: how about It will start aan aco****ing of tha money to the UH and State? RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - rainyjim - 07-28-2019 I went to Senator Kahele’s little community get together last year when he was trying to explain his position to the community and he was also unable to explain the mismanagement in his presentation. I would describe his description as a timeline of the telescopes history on Mauna Kea alone with no description of actual events of mismanagement - which failing to provide absolutely any plan or outline for a new management agency yet demanding one nonetheless. I didn’t want to watch your link (sans description) but I did follow it and am just responding that I’m aware of Senator Kahele’s position. He didn’t really take any questions at the end and when I approached him about why he was unable to collaborate with his family connections in OMKM he at first denied having any connection until I specifically mentioned his uncle then finally acknowledged the connection, but when pressed about what was wrong with OMKM and why it couldn’t be addressed specifically he was unable to articulate what was wrong, why he couldn't collaborate through his familial connections, or what plans or changes in a new agency would address the [read: unaddressed] problems. So, my faith in Senator Kahele’s ability to respond or even articulate his reasoning or motivation for his actions is understandably limited. Maybe you could provide a description for a link in the future and any reasoning you might have about your convictions. Thanks. Galileo was forced to abandon his research because it contradicted the church's teachings People, religions, cultures, really, really prefer the belief that they’re the center of the universe. If we can believe our eyes, the sun revolves around us literally, and figuratively because humans love the idea of our own significance. Our nation is best, our culture and religion are the pinnacles of human achievement. Any contradiction to those beliefs is a threat. When Copernicus & Galileo made discoveries which challenged the importance of the church and individuals, it reduced them to a speck in the vastness of space. This wasn’t welcomed as a compelling new understanding of the world, but a personal loss of stature. On top of that the average medieval person couldn’t easily comprehend an earth which moved around the sun, because that’s not how it appears. The sun clearly looks as though it moves across the earth’s sky, circling our world. I always liked the following quote: Ever since we discovered the Earth is round... We’ve understood that reality is not as it appears to us. Nobody like to feel small especially on their home turf. One of the main arguments against the TMT is that it’s big. Really big. Too big. I think that argument can be considered in more ways than one. RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - kalakoa - 07-28-2019 how about It will start aan aco****ing of tha money to the UH and State? How about we stop pretending that State-level fraud only affects a certain ethnic minority? RE: TMT construction begins Monday 15 July - Frank - 07-28-2019 Who in the hell ever claimed that State-level fraud only affects a certain ethnic minority? |
