Great, first a crossing guard, now a light, then comes the 7-11 and after that maybe a toll booth to help support the protectors.

reni,

"We may (?!!) be able to obtain more information regarding open/ limited access or denial of access affecting all parties by following the Hearings that start on Thur. and whether Ige extends his emergency proclamation on Friday or not."

As I wrote yesterday, Dennison's statement that was reported by Big Island Video News and Big Island Now just confused the issue, it would have been better if he just didn't say anything. Very limited access has been available for the observatories for a few days, but it has been extremely limited and certainly nothing that would allow the observatories to operate or staff to do their jobs as well as all the contractors that rely on the observatories.

The upcoming storms may well test things. Several observatories will need access to storm-proof their facilities before Erick and Flossie arrive, and if we get significant power outages on the mountain, which is very likely if the storms impact the island, then it's probable that every observatory will need to send staff up to prevent catastrophic damage from instruments warming up uncontrollably.

How this plays out will be interesting to see.

Will protesters take turns pressing the walk button to stop traffic?

I can't believe the TMT hasn't got its act together and have high-level science staff on the island during this period. Maunakea Observatories' staff are here, many grew up here, and are taking the heat. Other than some spokespeople, the TMT is absent. This is a terrible mistake on their behalf and I don't know why they don't realize this.

They realize it tom, i talked to sandra at the last rally she was at. She was very quite ,reserved etc. I said are u gonna keep me in the loop for when the next pro rally is and she just smilled?

Its all part of there plan. Well thoight out and orchestrated by the Big owners of tmt.

Kinda like a komodo dragon. Bite the animal come back when its dead to eat it.
Tmt won, just waiting till the dust settles.

Than build

No problems

Looks to be the same issue. Somebody isn't getting a cut.

In the "good old days" indigenous people were fed a line of bull and generally shafted. Today the pendulum has swung past center and completely in keeping with human nature, the bull is flying in the other direction. I hope some day the pendulum settles down in the middle.
