I wonder if it was one of the CERT teams. CD has gotten involved and they use the CERT teams for door to door education and information collection. The DOH has really been unsatisfactory both in sharing information in a timely manner and in understanding that "go to your neighborhood clinic" if your primary care provider can't give you an appointment is not a viable option when that "neighborhood climic" is your primary care provider. Just because Oahu has enough medical providers to go around doesn't mean we are in the same situation here.

I confirmed with Hilo Dept of Health Vector Dept. that they are sending out people house to house to disseminate information & check for stagnant water.

Might be because you have to be a subscriber to get full story? According to Dr. Lorrin Pang, Maui District Health Director is claiming that migrant workers in Puna may be carrying the fever in transit from farm to farm, which they are in process of inspecting to try to find them to curb the spread. I did not think it was transmissible from person to person without a bite, but maybe they are hosting the mosquitos in what they bring with them, or they are infected and don't know it, and the local mosquito becomes the carrier.

Some interesting information from government in Singapore about the lifecycle of the Aedes mosquito, the one most commonly known to spread dengue. I wish our government was disseminating helpful educational information like this.
Adults live two weeks on average, but #6 is terrifying.

The Q&A session covered a lot of ground including DoH checking with neighbors within 200 yds of a known case (as seen in HPP?), what is being sprayed (Aqua-Reslin - 20% Permethrin), protecting school kids (Hilo & Kona side schools being sprayed on weekends), old tires now accepted at all transfer stations (free!), DIY yeast&sugar traps (give it a try, but don`t expect much), papaya leaf smoothies (can`t recommend - unknown effects), and other useful tidbits.
