Durian Fiend - Not a problem.  If the kids really want to pick up on the "Bad" language they just need to follow along with the deaf interpreter sign language.  https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/08/arts/music/super-bowl-halftime-sign-language.html

Interesting link, thx - even had a Hawaii-related tie in:
"Instead of offering a stream of the halftime performance in American Sign Language, as it typically does each year, the National Football League is having the musical act interpreted into Puerto Rican Sign Language, [L.S.P.R.] a unique dialect used on the island that academic researchers and other experts consider endangered.
...
One aim of Cosme’s on Sunday is simply to allow a multitude of humanity to catch a glimpse of L.S.P.R. in action. A.S.L. is the most widely used form of communication for people who are deaf or hard of hearing in the United States, and it is increasingly pushing aside its Puerto Rican counterpart, just as it is Hawaiʻi Sign Language, used on another U.S. island some 6,000 miles away."

It would seem like increasing exposure to marginalized island people and their languages would be seen as a good thing, but opinions clearly differ. Have to try and catch the performance on instant replay as sign-language work for musical acts can be quite the performance in itself!

Yes, it is required, but as of this year’s game not enforced.

I have heard a guy in line at a Pahoa shopping establishment recently say it’s expected within a year or two that a sub-agency called SchICE (in honor of historical German policing methods) will be organized and come to your home if they receive a report you are not watching the official government authorized Super Bowl broadcast or an AI simulation of a team of your choice playing the top squad in the league.  Your club will always win in overtime.  You can also choose a soccer (football) team to play against an American football (football) club, but the American team will still receive seven points for a touchdown and your soccer team one point for a goal.

I guess the result might depend on the type of ball that's used for the game. On the other hand, I've often wondered what would happen if an American football team played a match against a rugby team.

Initial live telecast/streaming viewership numbers:
2026 Super Bowl Half Time Show: 100 plus Million
2026 Puppy Bowl: 12 - 15 Million
2026 Turning Point Alternative Half Time Show: 5 - 7 Million**
**Admittedly would have been more if Turning Point USA had anyone competent on staff to understand the copyright/digital platform rules its own hired performers agreed to prior, resulting in the last minute inability of the 2026 Turning Point Alternative Half Time Show to be streamed on "X"

So, how'd that work out for you bro?

Funny thing is I think you stepped in it and all for not.. though I imagine getting a racist dig in here and there might seem like a righteous mission.. I think you missed your mark with this one.

As the NY Times put it..

From: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/02/08/us/super-bowl-halftime-bad-bunny

Bad Bunny Delivers Joyful Super Bowl Halftime Show
Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin joined the Puerto Rican musician in a show that celebrated Latino heritage and was performed mostly in Spanish. His appearance had become a political flashpoint amid his criticism of ICE.

Which says in part..

Would he be political? Would he stick to the hits? And would Lady Gaga — or Ricky Martin — make an appearance?

In the end, Bad Bunny managed to hit all those notes at his halftime performance, walking out in an off-white football jersey labeled “OCASIO” (after his full name, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) and the number 64, and leading a show that featured a joyful celebration of Latin heritage, before he spiked a football in triumph.

His performance included Lady Gaga doing a salsa-style version of her streaming smash with Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile” (in English), and later Ricky Martin — who arguably began the crossover process for modern Latin pop that led to Bad Bunny — performing Bad Bunny’s track “Lo Que le Pasó a Hawaii.” (Both stars had been cited by online bettors in the run-up to the show, with decent odds.)

Bold added for emphasis by moi.

And you know, I never heard of Bad Bunny before all this, and certain had no idea he had a song called "What Happened to Hawaii?

Imagine that P'tang.. no political nonsense.. no big time testosterone driven racial nonsense.. just good ol' American fun. You are hip to the fact that Puerto Rico is in the USA, right? And yet you forgo that for some guy that goes on about the virtue of rape.

I didn't watch.. todays' been a work day for me.. pushing pixels.. but I hope you did record it and got a chance to give it a spin.. sounds like it was fun.. in a family oriented sort of way. And just think.. it had a local.. Hawaii.. reference too! Imagine that.

I saw a news item earlier about some players urinating on the pitch, which doesn't sound good.

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

There were also numerous reports of up to a dozen chihuahuas being detained in the parking lot, the whereabouts of each are currently unknown.

To read the flier.

You know, your use of questions as a form of passive aggressive bullying is kinda running paper thin hereabouts. Maybe you’ll pull some of that superior intelligence out and actually use it for a change. You’re always given opportunities.. always have a choice. And yet you seem to choose the same childish egotistical one to make it all about you, over and over. As if you think you’re the center of the universe and the rest of us revolve around you. It’s always about you. Kind of like a baby.

Why not try making it about others? Why not use that superior mind of your’s to empower, rather than demean? Even the post by kalianna letting forks know that a local ohana is offering an opportunity to come on down into Waipio in exchange for giving some of your time helping out is immediately turned into your very own dog and pony show.. you just can’t help yourself, can you?

I don't know what that means where you grew up, but here, in Hawaii, that’s being a disrespectful brat. And had you grown up here your elders would have whacked you upside the head long before they would have allowed you to behave like that repeatedly. Here, in Hawaii, our host culture don’t take kindly to idiots making fools of themselves like that. They see it as disrespect. Which, of course, it is. In this case disrespect towards kalianna, disrespect towards the family that gives the invite. You could read the instructions, follow the path, but no. Just more disrespect that exemplifies why nobody like your telescopes on their mountain. Not because they no like astronomy, not because they no like study the stars, but because they no like your disrespect.

It’s the same ol’ same ol’ Tom. And, unfortunately you no like learn how to respect others but rather demand others learn to bow down to you.

If the folks no like answer your call, which by the sound of it was made on a Sunday night in the middle of a rain storm, maybe you might try a little respect and call when normal folks do. And, when you do, please let us know how it goes. Thx.

RE: The Bicker Board - HiloJulie - 02-09-2026

To be honest, PunaTang, if I were you, I would think you would be livid and have every right to be livid. Fists punched through a wall livid.

All the time and energy that went into the promotions of the Turning Point USA Alternative Half Time Show, the incessant endless barrage of assailing the NFL and its commissioner, the promises of a “bigger and better” and “All American” alternative to the “woke ideologies” of the deranged lunatic left, and even as you said, the heart and mind of an elder Hawaiian lady at your bible study group apparently convinced that Bad Bunny was the absolute baddest thing to ever grace humanity.

To your over a half dozen postings of the same links repeatedly, only to be given a performance that can at best be described as an affluent high school talent show, with the star attraction “lip syncing” throughout his performance.

Further, the sponsoring group, Turning Point USA, whose founder once said, “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, 'Boy, I hope he's qualified” along with the very performers hired to perform not even understanding the basic various copyright/digital licensing requirements that needed to be in place, thus having, at the last minute, the show being unable to be streamed on the social media platform “X” proves this was nothing but a “performative” charade.

And then even further compounding all of this, it turns out the guy whom I would say it's safe to say your bible study group thinks is the second coming, did not even watch the alternative half time show but instead watched the Bad Bunny performance, as revealed in his own social media platform postings as well as now released videos of him at his Florida resort with the entire group watching Bad Bunny on the big screen. My God, more people tuned in to watch PUPPIES!!!

But despite all of that, and even a complimentary in full agreement shout out to MyManao, who wrote, and I quote:

Imagine that P'tang.. no political nonsense.. no big time testosterone driven racial nonsense.. just good ol' American fun. You are hip to the fact that Puerto Rico is in the USA, right? And yet you forgo that for some guy that goes on about the virtue of rape.

But, in the end, Bad Bunny had the best message ever:

“The only thing more powerful than hate, is love.”

As an aside, I’d sure love to have that Ford pick-up truck Bad Bunny used in his performance! 100% pure American, that's for sure!
