RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - punalvr - 02-17-2015 Well, I finally bought a HDTV Yagi antenna with a 150 mile range and remote control rotation from Amazon. I am getting eight channels, super clear and live closer to Kapoho in a puka! Not sure about antenna quality, but I am getting enough channels. I am not getting NPR. Are they on the air? Are there any more channels? I threw my Directv dish from my roof. Such an eyesore, and I was paying to watch infomercials late at night!! Hell no! punalvr RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - terracore - 02-17-2015 These are the free channels I get in Orchidland: 4.1 4.2 9.1 10.1 10.2 11.1 11.2 13.1 13.2 14.1 45.1 45.2 45.3 Am I missing any? ETA: Not sure what you mean by NPR. If you meant PBS, they are 10.1 and 10.2. RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - macuu222 - 02-17-2015 I did the same with Dish Network about a year ago. Saved almost $100.00 a month. I get 11 stations here in lower HPP. Can't get 13.1 and 13.2 RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - H22 - 02-17-2015 I love this thread :-) punalvr, since you have a rotor, there are 3 different locations that PBS transmits from. Try pointing at one of these: 1. Kulani Cone (RF Ch. 41) 2. Saddle (RF Ch. 19) 3. Hilo Bayfront (RF Ch. 28) You'll need to re-scan for the above RF channels while pointing at the respective location. RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - terracore - 02-17-2015 The 13's are some of the stronger signals for me, granted I'm up a bit in elevation at about 800ish feet. I wonder if antenna orientation or different antenna might help? Our antenna sits perched atop a 10' electrical conduit pipe shoved into the old Dish Network mounting bracket which is situated at the roof gutter elevation with various tree branches and twigs shoved into the dish network bracket as shims to keep the conduit from moving around and to keep the horizon stabilized etc. This gets the antenna above the top of the roof line so the metal roof isn't causing any interference that I know about. RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - terracore - 02-17-2015 quote: I always wondered what 28.1 and 28.2 were. While my TV finds them, I've never actually received any video on them. RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - punalvr - 02-17-2015 Jesus! I never thought there were so many channels available! By NPR, yes I meant PBS, They are the same aren't they? Guess one is radio, the other TV broadcast. I noticed that the 40's channels came in after I moved the antenna a bit towards hilo. Right now I am facing the antenna more towards the ocean than the mountain. But, if I move the antenna, it seems, I have to auto redo the antenna programming on the tv. Thanks for the info. I feel liberated from Directv! Thanks Terracore. I am just realizing the antenna needs to be moved for some channels. But then, I do not know where the antenna is rotating since there is no telling where it is moving when I press the remote. I just go up to the antenna and move it till I get the signal for the other channels. After all, is a Yagi antenna. Mahalos to you all! And beginning to save the 90 dollars a month!! punalvr RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - terracore - 02-17-2015 Remember that whenever you move your antenna, you will have to rescan. RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - punalvr - 02-17-2015 H22, Thank you for the info. The antenna has an incorporated amplifier also. But still missing a few channels Terracore mentioned. I will keep moving the antenna!! punalvr RE: OTA tv channels after this storm - punalvr - 02-17-2015 Yeap, terracore, I just realized that!! Mahalos!! Did the fire ants kill the coquis??? It is so quiet here. Not a frog sound!! Not messing this thread, but for some reason it is eerie, not to hear the frogs! LOL punalvr |
