RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - Katarina - 05-14-2018

As the saying goes."Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me".I read and listen in disbelief. In almost 4 years nothing has improved. The majority board and GM are in total control and others seem to be running in circles. There does not seem to be any plan to STOP them just lots of words and being many steps behind the tornado. What a mess. Thicker than quick sand now.The GM and majority board must be laughing all the way to the bank

Keep the Faith Katarina. The Election is near. Hopefully they won’t be laughing much longer.

From what I gather, the election is already an intended mess. People getting ballots that shouldn't, more ballots than necessary being sent out to.... who?, no qualified ballot counting association....and what is with using Naniwali when far better places exist? We have no clue who actually was mailed a ballot and who wasn't so there can be NO cross referencing which is essential. As I said, the majority board and GM are having the time of their lives messing with us and we as members are scattered, not working as a group and are way behind any shenanigans they pull instead of having a plan to get out in front of it and bite the head off this poisonous snake.

Obie, your disrespect is typically nasty and inappropriate.

...and yet, Obie has a point: can you imagine the HPP Board response to active lava and mandatory evacuation? Can't fix those with chip seal...

RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - BillyB - 05-15-2018

"We still don't know if Nanawale is a "reputable" ballot counting organization which is required by our bylaws and being this board's choice from the get go.... Other organizations were suggested but Mizuba(current VP) and Crelly (current president) pushed for Nanawale and it wasn't about their cheap cheap rates."

How about drafting Eileen Ohara and Ashley Kierkiewicz our two candidates for district 4 County Council to be observers of the ballot counting. Hopefully they can maintain a civil cooperation for an exercise in democratic elections. That participation, or lack there of, could decide both elections.

If either behaves badly they will be tared in HPP which includes more than half of their electorate. It would behoove both of them to insure an honest ballot count, and we would be assured that at least that part of the election is fair. With $70,000 a year on the line I would expect a real effort on their part to do a good job.

Would our present Board balk at their participation? That would really be a WOW!

That's the irony. Obie's directly connected to the HPP President. Crelly was behind chip seal and the mismanagement that's been going on. I have zero confidence in their abilities to make important decisions for HPP. That would mean they'd have to think of HPP's best interest and I frankly don't think they know how to do that.

Look at how screwed up the election is.

Just sent my ballot for 2018 HHP District 6 elections. Two candidates are in the ballot. Thanks Punaweb for the information/news I gathered from this forum.

It's likely that the majority board would "balk" at this idea. They don't usually accept advice or suggestions from ANYONE. Their mantra for EVERYONE and EVERYTHING is, "you're just advisory, we make the final decisions". Most professional and bright people would understand that doesn't apply in every case when there's a conflict of interest issue at play...hence the Nominating Committee or the Bylaw Committee being a MEMBERSHIP committee NOT a BOARD committee. In fact they voted at the April board meeting to spend more of our $$$$ in hopes the attorney will tell them they have 100% control over ALL committees when our bylaws say the membership has authority over membership committees.

Voting to put Crelly on the Dist 6 ballot ILLEGALLY was worth it to them so they spent more of OUR money to accommodate that agenda and caused more mayhem and errors in the election process. If Crelly prevails, the membership could vote at the June membership meeting to have an investigation done by a membership committee formed at that meeting. Or Dist 6 could do a recall.

There are members who've already come forward wanting to be ballot count observers. The board has controlled who the observers are very tightly for the past 2 yrs. The Nominating Committee has already been advised that Nanawale can only accommodate 3 people. Why 3, not 4 or 5? The problem isn't in the observing per se, it's in what happens to the ballot count after it's been completed until the board announces it at the June board meeting....where's the control that the numbers won't change in between? Can the observers see the final ballot count in real time, perhaps photograph it? Some say yes.

And then add to it the issue of people in other districts getting ballots they shouldn't have gotten... if they're unaware and voting, that's extra numbers in the count. This mess could've been avoided had the board NOT meddled in the elections. The Nominating Committee was supposed to be the checks and balances FOR the members in the election, and when the board took that away, they took away our right to have a clean election. There are also candidates who are concerned about their rights to run in a clean election.

The Nominating Committee has already voiced their ethical opinion to the board that the GM should NOT be a ballot count observer for what would be the 3rd year in a row. He's an employee and his job is to focus on our roads, not meddle in membership business. If there's strict numbers on how many can observe, it should be members observing, NOT an employee on our dime.

RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - Obie - 05-15-2018

"That's the irony. Obie's directly connected to the HPP President."

I'm not sure if you and mermaid have these delusions because of mental problems or maybe drug use.

Whatever the reason, you are both wrong !

I know who Mermaid's husband is and he is in a band with the guy who built and installed my kitchen cabinets.

Mermaid, why not ask Larry who Obie is ?

RE: 2018 HPP District Elections - mermaid53 - 05-15-2018

By your post, you've confirmed once again that we know each other Obie.

You're hanging on fiercely to maintain your anonymity here on PT but your nasty demeanor is your calling card which those involved in HPP politics recognizes. Decent effort, but not good enough.
