An important opportunity not identified is in the section on streetlights and traffic signals: there is zero mention of the considerable electricity savings to be realized with roundabouts as compared to traffic signals. These two are but a sample of the many sources that document the advantages of roundabouts, including reduced electricity usage (as well as reduced fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by vehicles): http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/resourcecenter/teams/safety/teamsafe_rndabout.pdf http://www.apa-tpd.org/newsletters/fall02_screen.pdf RE: Vision 2015 Green Government Action Plan - Obie - 04-12-2012 I have been having trouble finding examples of multilane roundabouts.I did find one example. http://carinsurance.arrivealive.co.za/avoid-accident-claims-from-multi-lane-roundabout.php Perhaps someone could explain how a car could exit HPP during the morning rush and travel toward Pahoa.Cars entering a roundabout yield to the cars already in the roundabout.Since the traffic is bumper to bumper there is no break in traffic to allow a car to enter the roundabout. |
