Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - Kapohocat - 07-14-2012 What are your thoughts? Someone one from an unlikely arena asked me for my support of Mr. Dolan. As I trust their judgement, I decided to start checking him out. So what do you think of him? RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - JerryCarr - 07-14-2012 Well, compared to the other two guys in this race, he's an outsider. That's a good start, IMHO. He has responded to a Big Island Chronicle candidate questionaire here: http://www.bigislandchronicle.com/ The headline says "incomplete response," but he responded to a wide range of detailed topics. I have also heard good things about Mr. Dolan from people I trust and am seriously considering supporting him. Edited to correct faulty link. RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - Kapohocat - 07-14-2012 quote: Yes I read his responses, too. I wondered what the "incomplete" part was referring to? That blogger is also highly supportive of Mitch Roth so I wondered if it was just a political spin. Any one else know of him? RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - JerryCarr - 07-14-2012 Cat, I think you may be right about the BIC blogger's sentiment. In a previous thread here on Punaweb, Mr. Roth seemed vague and unwilling to acknowledge the negative consequences of some notorious plea bargains made with violent criminals while he was part of the current prosecuting team. His responses were slow, saying at one point that he had to research a particularly notorious case. How could somebody be running for prosecutor and not be prepared to deal with questions about plea bargains? Also, telling me that the prisons are overcrowded and a "revolving door" does not justify putting violent offenders back on the street in short order. If you look at Mr. Roth's platform on his website, it sounds like he is running for chief social worker. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but as someone who spent three years working to get crime in HPP under control (and counseling victims,) I expect more. RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - Kapohocat - 07-14-2012 The part I did like is Paul Dolan saying - yes I was a public defender, etc... I take this as the years I had a retired IRS agent as my accountant. Knew the tricks from the other side. I dont see this as a drawback. Any other thoughts from anyone who might know Paul Dolan? RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - liskir - 07-15-2012 Heard him speak. Sounds like a person who will stand with the people instead of merely making empty campaign promises. "An idea whose time has come cannot be stopped" Dr. Ron Paul 2012 RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - Rick Damerville - 07-16-2012 quote: RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - Rick Damerville - 07-16-2012 quote:please read my comment concerning Mr Dolan at BIC. He misrepresents his record egregiously. RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - oink - 07-17-2012 quote:Vague accusations citing no proof? A mention referring to other self posted comments elsewhere (proof?) without a link? Yeah, I'm impressed! Pua`a S. FL Big Islander to be. RE: Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor - Rene Siracusa - 07-17-2012 He attended the candidate forum in HPP on Sunday. The format was what is called 'speed-dating', and is like candidate musical chairs, with each candidate spending a specified period of time in one-on-one interactions with voters, then at the bell moving on to the next table. Each candidate was given an 'itinerary', but Mr. Dolan did not follow his and thus through off the entire process. Mr. Dolan sat at and interrupted our table before the bell. Then, once the other candidate got up, he proceeded with his stump speech instead of allowing us to ask questions. Instead of answering the questions, he kept going back to his speech and had to continually be reminded to answer the questions. No one at our table was impressed with him - at least, not in a positive way. |
