benefit dance on Blue Moon - Rene Siracusa - 08-10-2012

When there is a full moon twice in one month, we call it a Blue Moon. It is a rare event - hence the expression Once in a Blue Moon... Friday August 31st will be a blue moon and there will be a concert/dance at the Hawaiian Sanctuary: performers will be Lee Eisenstein (classical guitar), Dan Nix Combo (music of the 50s, 60s and 70s) and Terrapin Station (Grateful Dead); heavy pupus and desserts by local restaurants and chefs, and an art auction round out the night. The event will benefit the Building Fund for Puna Community Medical Center's planned Pahoa Emergency Room - medical infrastructure overdue by about 20 years.

Tickets are available at the PCMC urgent care clinic in the Pahoa Marketplace, Pookie's Cookies on Hwy. 130 just Kea'au side of the new Pahoa Fire Station, Jungle Love, Puna Style, and Pahoa Puna Buy and Sell. Tickets are $25 advance and $30 at the gate. For more info or to donate or volunteer, 965-2000 or, better yet, email me at renesiracusa@hotmail.com.

Mahalo and see you there!

Rene,
I have some very large (120"x120"+/-) hand dyed wall hangings I would like to donate for the silent auction. In the past they have sold for up to $350; this is Puna so I don't know if people here can afford that kind of price, but I think it would be the right audience.

Who do I contact about donating?

Carol

MOI. And I can come and get them, too. renesiracusa@hotmail.com. And a big mahalo for your generous offer. There are some folks in Puna with disposable income, and I sure am hoping that they have already bought their tickets and will bring their checkbooks :-)

aloha,
Rene
