The only reason I put in these links, is for the new members to the forum who are not familiar with places in Hilo.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll miss the old location but totally understand the infrastructure problem. (Those bathrooms in the old location downstairs were gross.) Either way, Miyo's is a great value for what you get. Can't wait to check out the new location.

Drove by the other day and absolute madhouse, people waiting outside in the rain both place. Guess we won't get to check em until after the Christmas rush, but that's OK, we frequented the old Miyo's and the Waimea location so looking forward to it.

I can't imagine Miyos in this new location - I thought the old one was perfect - right on the pond!? How do you beat that? Location location location.

Cheers

Yeah the location was great. But I'll follow that food anywhere!

RJ
After Miyos had to supply their own generator for months to get electricity & had water issues, plus accessibility compliance with the washrooms - Prior to the electric/water fiasco with the property management, they were looking into compliance corrective actions... after, I think moving was the logical move (though we will miss the view - but how can you run a restaurant with issues over electric & water supply???)

Yeah I'm in agreement that the whole building needed to be gutted and renovated! The bathrooms always made me feel like I was going down into a dungeon...I was always kinda peering around the corners before going forward lol.

I ate at Hawaiian Style Cafe in Hilo the other day with my two sons. The HUGE portions were excellent and the service great! It was a bit expensive, but well worth it. We were seated as soon as we walked in and had a friendly chit chat with the owner's brother who came down from the Waimea restaurant. We did go fairly early in the morning on a week day so I guess that's the way to go to avoid the crowds.

Aloha!

We went to HSC yesterday morning, It was their 1st Sunday morning in Hilo...and there was about 1/2 hour wait...lucky one of the front staff was from Freddy's & offered coffee while we were waiting (morning is not the time to wait for coffee!)

The Kalua hash, egg & fried rice was HUGE & yummy - pancakes (even the ones instead of toat are bigger than the plate.... even Jim could not finish off his breakfast & had almost 1/2 this morning....& it was still good...

Although it is on the higher priced side of breakfast in Hilo, the portions are huge & most can easily split one breakfast for 2 people....

Once the serving staff & kitchen are seamless... this place will totally rock

Finally got to Hawaiian Style yesterday, and glad we did. Arriving about 1:30, only waited a few minutes until seated. JMO, but the best pancakes in town are not at a pancake house. Service and staff very good. Food just like Waimea. Enough left for a doggie bag, that our dogs really like.
Apparently they are changing hours, don't remember the details other than closed 2-5PM like many places in Hilo.
We'll be regulars for sure.
