Kenoi with a tiny lead - Rob Tucker - 11-06-2012 At 2nd print out Billy Kenoi leads Harry Kim by about 100 votes. RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - wax - 11-06-2012 And in the end, Billy pulls it out winning by 1500 votes. RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - Rob Tucker - 11-07-2012 Yeah, it is a shame. Makes it very likely that Puna will now take legal action regarding the lack of performance on road conditions. So be it. Kenoi could have been a hero on the subject but chose to be petty and obstructive. More of the same coming our way. It is impressive how much bang for the buck Harry Kim gets for his campaign money and how little Billy gets. RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - Frankie Stapleton - 11-07-2012 One of the very positive results of yesterday's elections was that it proved money does not buy elections in Hawaii! Look at the fortune Lingle's campaign spent!!! I'm so very happy about this fact because it was so disheartening to hear every political wonk insist that it does. And that has been true and in some areas, remains a dominant factor. But not in Hawaii. And maybe not so much across the nation, now that there are many more sources of news than 3 or 4 broadcasting networks and people now have technical entertainment options that allow them to turn off political ads. RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - Rob Tucker - 11-07-2012 Now we get to see if Tiffany Hunt gets a Hunter Bishop type of reward for yellow journalism. RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - Rene Siracusa - 11-09-2012 @ Rob: Somehow it so often seems that you will stray far from a topic just to put the screws to Tiffany. She does have a right to her political opinion, and just because it is not the same as yours does not make her grist for your very negative mill. Or is this revenge for being 86'ed from her blog? RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - Rob Tucker - 11-09-2012 My beef with Tiffany is that she likes the cred of a reporter but is just as often a gossip, printing stuff without verifying information. She also engages in character assassination as she did with the folks applying for commercial zoning next door to her shop. It's nice to have a blog but if she is wanting to be a reporter she should not be using it for her personal peeves. I hope that that commercial zoning gets approved. Zoning approvals should not be based on personalities. As for my being 86'ed, that's fine with me. She proved she can dish it out but can't take it. Thin skinned. I was and remain rather annoyed at her participation in the elections office affair. She was driving the story with her own agenda - miffed that the clerk did not recognize her "talents" and invite her to a press briefing. So as long as she plays cub reporter I will be commenting on it. Its too bad. We could use some professional Puna news. She is not professional. RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - JerryCarr - 11-09-2012 Rene, like you, I once respected what Tiffany was doing. I lost it, though, when she started using terms like "debacle" and "disaster" in reference to the elections office hu-hu before the election even took place. The actual event did indeed turn out to be a mess, but one has to wonder how much of it was fed by her "reporting." It seemed to me that Tiffany was angry about being scooped by a Honolulu news outlet and not being invited to a briefing. There has also been a history of blurring the lines between news stories and commentary even before the election issues. More people than Rob have had to ask for clarification as to what was what. Ultimately, this is one of the dangers of bloggers who also aspire to be "legitimate" news outlets. There is no editor (other than the blogger herself) to bring some balance and boundaries. Two respected professional journalists whom I know have told me that the election office coverage on the Big Island Chronicle was unprofessional. RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - Guest - 11-09-2012 Quite frankly, I think Tiffany was 100% right on with respect to the election DEBACLE, which would have led to certain DISASTER - if NOT for the tireless effort she put into the subject matter. You guys sound like Karl Rove and Donald Trump for Christ sake! Well, the one thing that could not be sweeter is seeing the two imbecilic idiots who caused the entire election mess to soon be gone for good! RE: Kenoi with a tiny lead - james weatherford - 11-09-2012 Rob Tucker says another person is “…a gossip, printing stuff without verifying information" and "engages in character assassination" and that this person uses their blog "for personal peeves.” However, this is what Rob does. So, using a blog for personal peeves, obsessions, and character assassination, like Rob Tucker does, is OK as long as one does not claim to be a reporter. |
