Anyone tried Allegiant to Honolulu yet? - asly - 11-11-2012

I'm still a little nervous that if I buy the fare, they'll cancel flights or something. Is Allegiant operating flights now? I'm looking at their Vegas flights. Yes, I know about all additional fees too....

Enjoy the day! Ann

I'll be flying Eugene to Honolulu on Allegiant on Nov. 24 (I've had my tickets since they started up the service - last May, and they haven't folded yet). I'm the one who complained on PunaWeb about their additional fees. I'll post how it went after I arrive.

Oh good to know! Will look forward to you feedback. If I purchase tics they will be out of Vegas, and we'd have to stay the night in Honolulu then jump over to the BI early next morning... but heck, we're in HI so I'm not complaining. They way I've priced it out Allegiant would be almost $300 cheaper... I'm talking for 2 travelers.

Enjoy the day! Ann

Sorry to get back on this so late. We flew Eugene to Honolulu on Allegiant on Nov. 24 and it was a very unpleasant experience. The seats have very little legroom (my husband's knees were bunched up against the seat in front for 6 hours), the seats don't go back - they only have an upright position, everything costs - can't even get a cup of water for free. With Allegiant you get what you pay for, and I do not recommend this airline.

Thanks Maud Gonne, we booked with another airline in the end, wasn't that much of a savings on Alegiant to be put those such an unpleasant experience as others have shared too.

Enjoy the day! Ann

I'm in trouble. When Allegiant offered Phoenix\Mesa to HNL, I bought tickets for February. My wife has back problems. Non-reclining seats is not acceptable for her.

These days, it is indeed wise to "ask first," especially about fees for things we used to get for free. I don't believe, however, that expecting the seats to recline, at least a little, is foolishly unrealistic. Of course Allegiant has set new lows in customer service, so I'm not surprised.

I have a student who flew back to Hilo from the mainland on Allegiant yesterday. They were a day late because after leaving Las Vegas they got as far as California when the pilot announced that the plane wasn't cleared to fly over the ocean and they were returning to Las Vegas. Their family spent more on the hotel room for that night than they saved on the tickets.

Carol, even Allegiant is bound by FAA and FTA regulations requiring that passengers be compensated for mechanical and airline administrative failures that lead to missed connections and/or hotel nights. If the plane was not cleared to fly over the ocean for anything other than weather, your student's family must be compensated for the hotel by law. Allegiant (and other airlines) frequently fail to point this out to their displaced passengers. Tell them to call now.
