Why do Big Island Medicare Senior Advantage Plan Essiential members with Kaiser Permenente, pay $ 39.00 per month ($468.00 per year) while members on Maui and Oahu pay $0 in premiums??? Are we seniors on the Big Island Soooooo much more prone to being unheathy than those folks on Maui or Oahu????? What gives???

should have noted the plan for Maui and Oahu participants is the same plan with the same benefits only at NO cost per month to them???...

ObamaCare imposes major cuts on the popular Medicare Advantage program, and while the Obama administration has largely delayed them until after the election, enrollees will lose an average $515 in benefits in 2013, according to an IBD analysis.
Some 14.4 million people are expected to enroll in Medicare Advantage in 2013, up from 13.1 million this year, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) said Wednesday. Advantage plans are run by private firms, providing more benefits at a somewhat higher cost — usually 13% to 17% — to the government than traditional Medicare.
That added cost has made Advantage plans a target. ObamaCare will cut MA by at least $7.4 billion in 2013.
ObamaCare's Dis-Advantage
ObamaCare is expected to cut $308 billion from Advantage plans from 2013-22, based on calculations of Congressional Budget Office data. That's a huge share of the more than $700 billion in total Medicare cuts to help pay for the exchange subsidies and other parts of ObamaCare.

Kaiser Senior Advantage plan pays for your plane ride to Oahu if you need medical care or referral testing. I was told that was the reason for the higher price.

i see, seniors on maui do not have to be flown to oahu...are the health care facilities that much better on maui?? if they are, fly me to maui...cut the pre-paid air tickets by half and cut the monthly premium by half, an call it good. last year, 2012, seniors on the big island paid $29.00 per month for the program mentioned above and the seniors on maui and oahu paid a big fat ZERO..

I called Kaiser and asked.The plans are different.On Oahu and Maui they offer a basic plan and it's not offered here.
Because of Obamacare and Medicare cuts to advantage plans,your rates will keep increasing every year for the next ten years.

I have been a member of kaiser off and on for decades. Kaiser for me is alot like KFC (kentucky fried chicken) it used to be good and reasonable, but now it's expensive and lousy.

yep, same goes for me...if i could find a doc with hmsa i would change for a change...from the horses mouth at kaiser-maui has better facilities and more participants=$0 per month premium...oahu has it all=$0 per month premium...bi more unhealthy participants, lousy facilities, low participants in program (same benifits/coverage on all islands)=$468.00 per year
it might be nice to have oahu folks pay $15.00 per month, maui folks pay $15.00 per month and us bi folks pay $15.00 per month...alls fair, and kaiser has $6.00 per month per participant in the hawaiian islands to throw at the bottom line...or get better facilities on the bi
