Nothing But Treble Brings Bach to Broadway Alive in Hilo

Hilo, HI January 20, 2013 – Amy Horst, Soprano, and Dorothy Williams, are Nothing But Treble. They bring their unique interpretations of classics and standard favorites to Hilo on Saturday, January 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the First United Protestant Church. Tickets are $10.00 general and $7.00 student. Tickets are available at Basically Books in Hilo, Keaau Natural Foods, and at the door. For more information, call 756-7953.

Bach to Broadway: The Classical Concert on Steroids, presents a sampling of the duo's favorite music. Offerings range from Bach's concerto for soprano and trumpet, “Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen!” featuring Paul Arceo on trumpet, to Samuel Barber's haunting “Knoxville, Summer of 1915.” Nothing But Treble brings to life songs, arias, and piano works of Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, Strauss, Faure, and Poulenc. They move audiences with uniquely emotive stylings of classic works.

Nothing But Treble loves Broadway and standards, too! “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “Unexpected Song,” “They Can't Take That Away From Me,” and – just for Hilo - “Singin' in the Rain” join a set of songs so engaging that audiences just can't help singing along.

Nothing But Treble includes Hilo based soprano Amy Horst, known locally for her one-woman shows Show Off and Meet Me At the Moon as well as for her voice teaching and choral conducting; and Minneapolis based pianist Dorothy Williams, who combines church organ and piano duties with collaborative and solo piano work around the Twin Cities. The two met just eighteen months ago in Minneapolis, and have performed there regularly since that time. This is their first Hilo concert together.

When asked how the duo created Bach to Broadway, Amy Horst said, “Following on the heels of my local one-woman shows Show Off and Meet Me at the Moon, we decided it was time to give the classics a whirl and pull out all the stops!” Dorothy Williams responded, “I love to watch others – especially Amy - releasing an inner diva, and to play along on the songs. Great fun!”

Nothing But Treble's Bach to Broadway: The Classical Concert on Steroids, comes to Hilo January 26, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. at the First United Protestant Church for one show only. Tickets are $10.00 general, $7.00 students and seniors, and are available at Basically Books, Keaau Natural Foods, and at the door. Call 756-7953 for more information.
