Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - pahoated - 02-06-2013 The county council meeting was this morning, just happened to catch the beginning while my camera was close by. They don't broadcast in HD, so that is the way it looks with an off-screen capture. There was only "testimony" from Pahoa, you can see the other empty conference rooms. Calling it "testimony" is a real stretch. The anti-geothermal troupe was out in force and full regalia. Mostly, it was just some of the wildest rambling, deranged monologues that looked and sounded more like they were doing an interview in a nut house. Didn't get a photo of one the first, Rev. Geisle of the THC Ministry. He looked like he was "worshipping". He ended by taking out a little electric fan with LED's and tried to use Darth Vader force on the council and parting with an almost FU to the council. Of course, Brenda Ford had already decided the outcome, so she just acted like it was all routine. There were some other real zingers but these were the highlights. I started taking screen shots when the woman in the background showed up, with a crown and some kind of feather wing wands. She would occasionally moan and yodel in the background. Cow woman - she said she was from down south and started talking about god and angels, how geothermal was offending them, bladablada: http://i.imgur.com/amNtORI.jpg Threaten guy - this guy came up and was basically threatening the council, saying it was amazing, how they knew where they lived and how impressed he was with their bravery if the vote wasn't "right": http://i.imgur.com/VH0Eri4.jpg Almost naked guy - actually, almost naked guy was one of the most level headed, saying how amazed he was that he could live off grid and growing his own crops, then something happened off camera: http://i.imgur.com/xy8kUWy.jpg Psycho-schizo woman - this was the woman with the crown and feathered wing fans. She was way out there, didn't really say much that was coherent at all, then tried to do some ju-ju at the council with her wing fans: http://i.imgur.com/weTB84C.jpg There was anther woman from Australia by her accent, her name was supposedly Equater Dawn. She was basically saying zero point energy had been suppressed by the government for over a century and she wanted to know what the council was going to do to bring zero point energy to Puna. She said geothermal was killing love. Harry Kim was there and he wasn't as an eloquent speaker as I thought. He was stumbling over all kinds of terms. Of course, Ford had to make a big deal out of thanking him for his testimony and his many trips to the other islands. Kind of quit watching there. It was very amusing but then I started thinking, these people could end up on a jury trial by peers. Not a real wonder why court cases go the way they do around here. I am pretty sure the council voted unanimous on the bill, it looked like a done deal. Ford was bullying the whole show and she basically ended by saying what had happened, was happening and will happen in Puna could just as well happen in all the other districts. The bobble heads were bobbing up and down. Well, just another day of entertainment watching how true democratic government works, at least in Hawaii county. It's a real shame how Hawaii county has butchered the meaning of the word "testimony" to mean "whatever loony thing you want to say". "It was a majority decision to descend into the Dark Ages. Don't worry, be happy, bang on da drum all day!" RE: Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - dwedeking - 02-07-2013 When I look at political philosophies, I always rail against the aristocratic landed gentry notion that the masses need to be controlled. I still believe in a republic where the people have a voice, but testimonies like this make me see where the other side is coming from. LOL RE: Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - opihikao - 02-07-2013 Mahalo for the report, pahoated. Saw a portion of it, and was disappointed in Harry Kim's dissertation, too. Did not realize he was part of the Puna Pono group, although he is not "anti geothermal" per his continued testimony. It is interesting that under his administration as Mayor, ORMAT/PGV was permitted for more geothermal development, and under his administration as Civil Defense Director, there was never a health and safety problem. Am I missing something here? Some of these other people who testified are beyond words, and frankly, (JMO) continue the perception that Puna is full of a bunch of nutjobs. WTH was that crown wearing, feather waving, person doing? I also take great umbrage at her claim of being a "child of Pele" (not verbatim, but close). As kanaka maoli who are from the Pele lineage, it's downright insulting and frankly, disturbing. Last, why didn't the County Council deal with this issue last session when it was raised by the Legislature? PLDC, subzone issue, etc. was all done last year. I'm waiting for facts, and the facts alone. The rhetoric is getting old, and at this point, not even entertaining. JMO. RE: Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - pahoated - 02-07-2013 quote: I think the pre-contact Hawaii religion is very beautiful and deserving of far more respect than these f*cking haoles (and that is the difference between haoles and f*cking haoles) feign to give it. Even scientists fall back on referring to Mother Nature at times, and I see Pele as just an extension of that concept, along with Gaia, Mother Earth, Amaterasu. We are searching for life on other planets but how can anybody argue that this Earth isn't another form of life, after all, so far, all life we know is an extension of this lifeform underneath us and we are finding more and more how volcanoes can possibly be essential to the origin, or at least, the sustainer of life. We now know creatures live at what we thought were impossible depths in the ocean, where there is no light or heat from the Sun and incredible pressures, only because they get their energy and nutrients from the undersea volcanoes they live around. And who can say the Sun is not another life form? Stars are born, burn, and die. Is that not life? These people see the volcano as fire, brimstone, poison and death. This is from their f*cking haole religious background that associates the volcano with their imagination of Hell. No doubt, the volcano deserves the utmost respect, and that is what the kanaka maoli gave Pele, not turning her into a mockery of a quasi-monarchy mad Red queen. That is what gets me mad, how dare these carpet bagger haole people claim to be self-appointed representatives of Pele? How arrogant and ignorant. Pele needs no protection from us, she allows us to live here and prosper from her bounty. If and/or when the time comes, Pele will make it clear she no longer wants us here. "It was a majority decision to descend into the Dark Ages. Don't worry, be happy, bang on da drum all day!" If and/or when the time comes, Pele will make it clear she no longer wants us here. There it is, in the perverbial nutshell. Appreciate the insightful post, including the verve in which explained. []Standing ovation. As an afterthought, why not just be a "child of Mother Earth" if not of our koko (blood), FGS????? (Rhetoric, perhaps.) RE: Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - pahoated - 02-09-2013 Oh, it has gotten worse. Despite whatever some people think about Damon Tucker, he gets the scoops somehow. It turns out those people were from a Rainbow Light coalition gathering during the past week. He has an article with pictures of last year and this year, what they did at Kamilo Beach, once a sacred beach: http://damontucker.com/2013/02/09/uh-hilo-professor-too-much-love-at-kamilo/ Kamilo beach is the one getting hit the worst by the Plastic Ocean, so it looks pretty terrible at times, but there are various cleanup effort notifications during the year, by good, decent, caring people of Puna. The pictures show what these f*cking haole's think of the beach, all the while chanting their incredibly hypocritical chants about nature, peace and love. Those pictures are disgusting. They chopped down native vegetation, set parts of the beach on fire, had a disgusting open pit latrine they didn't even bother to cover with lime or even bury, the campsite is strewn with all kinds of junk, and surprise!, corporation junk like empty tin cans, bottles, all kinds of trash. Then they just leave their corporate made tents and miscellaneous brick-a-brack. It was no wonder that threatening guy had that Charles Manson look, these people are more like a Charles Manson cult than the peace and nature loving hippies they masquerade as. This Rainbow coalition has a record of people going missing in the areas they have their gatherings on the mainland. This is the bizarre part. These were the people giving "testimony" at the county council. These people don't even live here. What in the world is going on when the people of Puna are allowing transient dopers represent the community? And Brenda Ford just sat there, nodding and agreeing, with the bobblehead Puna district council persons bobbing their heads up and down in unison. Why isn't Puna just renamed Bizarroville? What the frick is going on around here? "It was a majority decision to descend into the Dark Ages. Don't worry, be happy, bang on da drum all day!" RE: Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - Guest - 02-09-2013 Nasty nasty. shameful. “Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms.” -Ron Paul RE: Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - opihikao - 02-10-2013 For the love of God! How disgusting. Hewa. WTH is going on in Puna? [!] Note to self: Write Monday to all council and cc: whoever, that testifying during the public testimony portion of any meeting should be limited to residents of the County of Hawaii. Good grief! RE: Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - rainyjim - 02-10-2013 quote: so basically you support tyrannical monarchy and arbitrary death sentencing and human sacrifices. or you don't support that, but think the religion was beautiful in spite of all that! RE: Feb. 6 county council "testimony" - Rob Tucker - 02-10-2013 Rainy, you sure are quick to jump to conclusions. Please try to avoid the temptation to put words in other people's mouths. Assume the best and ask questions. Punaweb moderator |
