The seating is pretty uncomfortable and a good number of people leave about midway through the evening.... about the same time they stop checking tickets at the gate. Fact is the tv coverage is very good with better view and camera angles than you can get in person. But in-person is definitely worth the experience at least once. But you don't experience what goes on while present. You miss the real manna! RE: Needing Ho'ike Tickets for Merrie Monarch - Pilgrim - 02-24-2013 Well, actually the first night of MM is called the ho'ike and is totally free - no ticket needed - just a long line. If this is what you mean then you're in luck - you just need to get down there real early and have at least one person in your group stand in line. Last I remember it starts at 6 and I think most people try and get in line at least by 4. For better info you can check their website. Good luck! Oh nooooo - sorry - my bad. I just looked myself and found that they are indeed selling tickets in advance for 5 bucks this year. I'm sorry I spoke too soon. But, like the others I think it is still nice to watch on TV or the internet.
