Hanohano speaks her mind and really steps in it - csgray - 02-28-2013

I have a hard time believing that in this day and age anyone would do this in a public office, not a proud moment for Hawaii or Puna.

If she was so concerned with supporting Hawaiian artists, she could have taken the positive step of purchasing Hawaiian artwork with her own money to display in her office.

She was being real, being herself. In the interest of public decorum, it's better if she lies? She shouldn't apologize. That's how it really is out there; in homes, in the streets, in the hearts of people.

She might be "real", she might be "herself" but she sure as hell doesn't represent me with an ugly attitude like that. Hope she pays dearly next election season and we see the back of her.

As long as people make excuses for ignorant racists, it will continue. She may have to do without the votes of the people she hates.

If the transcripts are correct, then it seems like Faye used offensive words to complain about the artworks, & when the curator ES personnel offered to immediately take down the works she was complaining about - she refused, stating she wanted them up for a while & THEN the personnel can come back & take them down (when she tires of the works she was offended with???).....

It seems she wants these people to use up more of their time on art for her offices.... probably not a really smart move this week...when everyone is trying to figure how thin the federal axe will slice....

It sound to me like she wants people to jump & kowtow (although she might have an offensive word for that!) - not something I would think is "in the homes, streets & the hearts of the people" - only those that think that the power they think they have is to be used offend & belittle others while they are trying to do their jobs... esp. since Fayes STAFF SELECTED THE PIECES!!!

I can almost bet that next race she will not be unopposed. I can see qualified chinese, japanese, and caucasian people joining the race. It could get interesting.

If the transcript malolo provided turns out to be accurate I hope this doesn't have to wait until the next election.
