excavation - stx - 03-16-2013 Can anybody recommend excavation contractor, licensed, for work in Kaiwiki Rd. area. Road and house pad, ASAP RE: excavation - Correy Smith - 03-16-2013 Kaiwiki, that's a great place to live. All kine good people up that way. Congrats and good luck with your project. Sorry no leads on contractors. RE: excavation - pslamont - 03-16-2013 Many people I have known have had a $$ problem with guys they hire to excavate. They take a 50% deposit and you never see them again. I STRONGLY recommend you not give them a deposit until the end of their first day of work. You have then guaranteed they will have the excavator delivered and work has begun I would NOT pay the final amount until they arrive to remove the machine from your property. I had one guy leave a machine here for around four months and it was totally in the way for further work. I finally found someone with a universal CAT key and he moved it to the back corner of our 30 acres of property. Amazingly the guy knew within days that it was "missing". I told him you move it, so come get it. He never did. Turns out he had borrowed the machine from another guy. When the other guy called me I called the police to confirm the registered owner of the equipment then let him come get it. It was a mess. I want to be the kind of woman that, when my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!" RE: excavation - YurtGirl - 03-18-2013 I remember when I lived up Kaiwiki. There was an excavator that was doing some work up there and ended up about 70' down into the river. YIKES!!! They left that machine there for about 6 months, scratching their heads and trying to come up with a plan. Eventually they got a huge machine with a winch, anchored it to the opposite side of the road, carved in a ramp starting from the bottom where the tractor was and slowly, slowly got that bugger back up topside again. Can you imagine?! I bet they're still talking about that one up there... Melissa Fletcher ___________________________ "Make yurts, not war" Bill Coperthwaite, 1973 |
