Bali Style Home in Leilani - emorata - 06-19-2007

Aloha all,

Does anyone know the name or contact number for the owner of the house in Leilani estates on Leilani, even the realtor would be okay? I'm interested in talking to him/her about their building process to see how easy/difficult the whole process was for them or if they worked through any intermediaries.

I'm very interested in this style of living and want to emulate this lifestyle for myself in Puna.

Gene and I met this gentleman when we were visiting Leilani, that was 9/04. He was landscaping the property and putting up the bamboo fencing when we were there. He told us about his house plans, how it was being shipped over from Bali. This gentleman was such an interesting person, he left quite an impression on us. He was so giving of his time and knowledge, his love of the aina was so evident, as he lovingly planted and fenced his spot of paradise.

He bought his home from a business not far from Ken's pancake house on 11. between Ken's and the Harley Davidson shop I believe. An import export shop. I think that business closed down by my last trip over. We also went into this business to look at the Buddha head statuary, as the gentleman told us that is where he purchased his. They were some of the most beautiful, peaceful pieces I have ever laid my eyes on, truly.

Perhaps you could email the Leilani Homeowners Association, this home is right on the corner from them. They may know the gentleman's name.

thanks mella and john, will follow up....lots of things to study up on with this style, i plan on also going to bali to see the build process along the way.

so when are you coming over mella...did you finally sell the home in norcal? you might have to sponser the next punaweb garden exchange....

One of our neighbors built a Bali House - something of a nightmare process for her.
After her 1st contractor took her to the cleaners she had to go back to work.
Some problem with the roof, something missing as I recall, but end result was the house sat open to weather, roofless for about a year, yep all that beautiful wood.
Not sure if she's passed final, but 3 years later she is finally living in it.

My suggestion should you go this style, be sure to find a contractor who has actually built it, then talk with those clients while you scope out their house.

If you would like to avoid the building problems. Marius has his house for sale. He would like to move back to the mainland. The house is beautiful and he has done alot of landscaping with large established plants. The only down side might be living next door to one of John Rabis homesSmileSmile

David, thanks for the heads up, i would probably bring in a construction crew from bali to make sure the work is done properly and probably faster/cheaper.

I might want to also check this listing in Leilani to see if i like the plan and save some time in the building process.
