Anybody know what was going on at 25th and Paradise early this afternoon?

Husband and I were going down Paradise to go to the Beach @ 10:45. The incident occured at the residence where the trucks were always being fixed. Husband saw police presence and someone laying on his back on the front lawn. Just came back from post office @ 3:00 and road is still blocked.

A man was shot in the chest and died. The perp was killed when he wrecked his vehicle going up the coast out of Hilo. Per the kitv news tonight.

It would seem the reputation of Puna as the wild west of the big island is still well deserved. I have heard people try to deny this and say things have changed but apparently they have not.

Most of the major violent crime here seems to be either domestic dispute or drug related. Not much is random violence that we heard about in good ol' ChiTown. Unfortunately, drug & domestic violence seem to know no boundaries.

I do hear the occasional gunshots or what sounds like gunshots. Once I heard something that sounded like a machine gun or automatic assault rifle being fired.

Why are you always so negative "bystander"? Looking at life with a positive attitude would make your life much rosier. You very well know that Puna is much safer than many many many many other places in the US, including Hawaii, and violent crime is rare.

Did you hear about the guy that got punched in the face at Hirano store for no reason? I believe that's in upper Puna.
