Cook Island Pines - pyeaton - 04-07-2013

I have nine 60-70 ft tall Cook Island pines that I am considering removing. Does anyone know if there is a market for the wood and who would I contact?

These trees have very nice wood and is valued by wood turners and cabinetmakers. Nice wood. I took down an 80' tree and had it milled. Made my cabinets and some furniture out of it. Lovely wood. I donated some small sections to the craft shop at Waipio Valley and was rewarded with a very nice turned wood bowl.

A good diameter tree could be worth several hundred dollars.

There is a Big Island Woodturners Guild and they have an annual show at the Wailoa State Park gallery. The office will have contact info.

You can also pop into some local galleries and ask them to pass the word to their woodworkers.

good luck

save our indigenous and endemic Hawaiian Plants... learn about them, grow them, and plant them on your property, ....instead of all that invasive non-native garbage I see in most yards... aloha
