I think someone put their cesspool too close to my - EightFingers - 05-01-2013 ...lot. How do I make sure it's in the right location? What are the rules for these? Should I call the county (we don't care [}]) to find out about it? RE: I think someone put their cesspool too close to my - Rob Tucker - 05-01-2013 If you take the TMK from the neighbor's lot you can go to the state Dept. of Health and check the record. There should be a card on file showing if there is a cesspool and it's location. RE: I think someone put their cesspool too close to my - David M - 05-01-2013 Fingers crossed on that one. At least 3 builds on my street were not properly finaled with the state, me included. No card on file as the engineer didn't complete the job. All were permitted, inspected, basically legal except finishing the paperwork. Also a PITA for all of us to correct. David Ninole Resident Please visit vacation.ninolehawaii.com RE: I think someone put their cesspool too close to my - Carey - 05-01-2013 Call or visit the State DOH in Hilo Wastewater, Clean Air, Drinking Water, Clean Water (808) 933-0401 1582 Kamehameha Avenue, Hilo They have cards on file, but as previous posters haven noted those cards may have errors...for us, we still have no idea WHERE ours is, except that it is NOT in the location of the card on file One option we may pursue if our curiosity gets the best of us, is optical scoping of the drain lines...hard to do on a neighbors lines! RE: I think someone put their cesspool too close to my - EightFingers - 05-02-2013 I think the house may be unpermitted as well, since I don't see any permits on file under that TMK! Are the records on Hawaiiperopertytax.com up to date/accurate as far as showing permits? What I wondered would be if the permit would have this information on it, but there wasn't any info .... I'll call the DOH later today..... RE: I think someone put their cesspool too close to my - kalakoa - 05-02-2013 It could be worse: pre-Statehood cesspools are (supposedly) "grandfathered", but EPA will proceed to levy fines/penalties because most/all of that paperwork has long since been lost. RE: I think someone put their cesspool too close to my - Kapohocat - 05-30-2013 quote: The permits are not up to date with respect to permits that are more than a few years old (that sounds oxymoronic doesnt it?). When the county changed systems, there are some things that did not make it from one system to the other. But... if you go into Bldg Dept they will look at the actual hard copies for you,or try to pull it up on the old system. Wastewater systems need to be 5'from property line. |
