HELCO bill - rocketman - 05-23-2013 Anyone want to share how much their HELCO bill is every month with a new home owner? Just bought a little house in Shores Rec Estates and that electric water heater scares me. Just two of us living there, no AC or dishwasher. Thanks RE: HELCO bill - dayna - 05-23-2013 We have solar hot water. No ac or dishwasher. Ours is between $100 and $130 a month for a family of three. Dayna www.E-Z-Caps.com RE: HELCO bill - jlgerk - 05-23-2013 HPP, 2 people, no dishwasher, no cloths washer, no AC, water heater on timer for two 5 hr cycles per day, yes elc. stove, yes frig. , yes computer on most all day, fans when real hot, very few lights, usually about $85 a month. ............................................................ http://www.icompositions.com/artists/jlgerk RE: HELCO bill - kimo wires - 05-23-2013 my monthly bill is just around $100.00 30 gallon electric WH on timer set to come on for 4 hours daily. 2 hours morining, 2 hours evening. Energy star fridge. And other appliances are propane. Use cfl's and led lights. Always turn off lights not in use. RE: HELCO bill - rocketman - 05-23-2013 Thanks, that's really not so bad. I feel better. Have to work on getting a timer. RE: HELCO bill - james weatherford - 05-23-2013 Two adults, with frequent visitors. Dishwasher, big clothes washer, big refrigerator, magna wave electric cooktop, electric convection oven, solar water heater with electric backup, grid-tied solar photovoltaic. All electric appliances are rated 'Energy Star'. No propane gas use of any kind. Bill is mostly minimum $20.50 /month, and can go up to $40 or $50 when there are visitors. RE: HELCO bill - nanawaledeej - 05-23-2013 James that sure says something for going solar. "Today I am better than yesterday, but not as good as I will be tomorrow." RE: HELCO bill - kalakoa - 05-23-2013 How large is the PV array, and how much does it harvest? RE: HELCO bill - birdmove - 05-23-2013 Two people in a 1056 square foot house on full electric. The last bill was about $175. But, my daughter comes over and washes and dries their laundry all the time. Otherwise, we never use the dryer. Helco's meter reader has made 2 mistakes over the last 3 bills. The last time he added 1000 kilowatt hours to our meter by mistake. Bill would have been about %615!! Got that straightened out. Jon in Keaau/HPP RE: HELCO bill - terracore - 05-23-2013 quote: Need to add that $100-$130 is based on a "Helco month" which is no 30 day cycle. Our bill is about $110 per calendar month. Also need to add that 80% of our clothes are line-dried with the remaining using an electric dryer. We do have a small outdoor kitchen that uses propane that we use frequently. Also, our last electric bill in Alaska was over $400 (and our highest was nearly $1200, and we did NOT have electric heat), so we don't know what everybody is complaining about. |
