I just checked some dates close in on orbitz.com and united.com, and they show a non-stop each way, but on Saturdays only.

My girlfriend and I are flying out of Hilo tonight on United's direct flight to SF. We're on our way to Sacramento, where we will be subjected to a forecasted high temperature of 109 degrees on Tuesday!!

Looks like it's a Saturday-only, summer-only flight. It doesn't show up after mid-August

Yes..I agree. I should have said "going to shut down". And if you take a look at those 7 remaining roundtrips that are left..the prices of those flights are very expensive!

Something else United has been known to do - same flight number from SFO to Hilo, but you change planes and continue on the regular LAX to Hilo route.
