By now most have heard of the passing of Senator Inouye. All the big names came forward to pay homage to the oldest serving Senator. He of all people understood what happens when the government goes astray. A witness to the internment of thousands of Japanese-Americans during WW II. He warned us at a 1987 hearing. Unfortunately, he lost his way in his warning. Later, in several videos I watched when others at later hearings starting giving the same warnings and tried to inform, he warned them to be quiet that “it was classified material”. Just for the record:

Recall Senator Daniel K. Inouye in 1987 Chaired the Senate Select Committee on Secret Military Assistance to Iran and the Nicaraguan Opposition, which held public hearings on the Iran-Contra affair.

Senator Inouye, summarizes here the coverup of the US Shadowy Government involvement; by saying:

“There exists a shadowy Government with its own Air Force, its own Navy, its own fundraising mechanism, and the ability to pursue its own ideas of the national interest, free from all checks and balances, and free from the law itself.”

I think this post is a reminder that all is not well in the USA, and is pertinent to this day and time, especially it's relevance to some of my other posts.

Doesn't this belong in the politics bin Rob?

RE: Senator Daniel K. Inouye /US Shadowy Government - Kelena - 07-18-2013

What I don't get is why the government of the state of Hawaii is ignoring an elegant solution to the problem of renaming the Saddle Road. It was proposed to honor Senator Inouye by renaming the Saddle Road something like "The Daniel K. Inouye Legacy Highway". If I recall correctly, there was on objection to this because roads in Hawaii must be partly, or perhaps primarily in Hawaiian.

There is no question that we need to honor this great man. I propose that we dispense with the name "The Daniel K. Inouye Legacy Highway" for several reasons: 1) First no one will call it that. It is too cumbersome and lengthy. Secondly, it isn't Hawaiian enough.

Instead I propose the following: Inouye Way.

Everyone would call it that. They would LOVE to call it that. And there is nothing more Hawaiian than Inouye. He lived for Hawaii and he literally died with the word "aloha" on his lips.

Inouye Way.

Make it so.

No, Kelena, it will always be Saddle Road. If they rename it, no one will call it anything else, not even the Hawaiians who might demand a Hawaiian name.

As for Inouye's political legacy, not everyone is so gushy. He was the ultimate "good old boy" who tried to retain control even from the grave. He did do some good in his prime and deserves some recognition. They'll probably name a big military facility or warship after him, and that's completely appropriate considering how much military cash he brought to these islands.

yes! give him accolades with the military...so appropriate...............Saddle Road has MANA. It will never be political.

RE: Senator Daniel K. Inouye /US Shadowy Government - Kelena - 07-18-2013

A "good old boy:, huh? In World War II he was shot in the stomach while attacking a German stronghold of critical importance in Italy. He ignored the wound despite the protestations of the medic, and kept up the attack. His men were completely pinned down. He got very close to the bunker, pulled out a hand grenade, pulled the pin and was about to lob it when his right arm was nearly shot off. His right hand was no longer under his control. But he grabbed the hand grenade with his left hand and as the German aimed to shoot him once again, he lobbed it, destroying the bunker and giving a major push in Italy to the allies. His right forearm was amputated.

He served in the House of Representatives when Hawaii became a state and then moved to the Senate where he served until his death at age 88.He was at that time the longest serving Senator. Along the way, he brought more pork to Hawaii than the Polynesians of old, and was extraordinarily powerful considering the small size and remoteness of his state. He comforted the afflicted, with an expansive approach to social programs and, as Oliver North and Richard Nixon would attest if they both were here, he afflicted the real good old boys. His questions during the Watergate hearings made this then young man wonder "Who is this guy?"

He was smart, retained his faculties to the very end, did tremendous things for Hawaii and had the presence of mind to sum of his entire career, his love for this state and its people in one single word uttered moments before he died: Aloha. And don't think that was an accident. The same guy who ran up that hill after getting shot in the stomach, the same guy who switched that grenade to the left hand after his right arm and hand were rendered useless by a bullet, the same guy who took Oliver North to task -- it was that same guy and that same strength and determination that exhibited himself when he summoned his final ounce of energy to bid everyone in this state "aloha". Same guy.

And that guy worked tirelessly for this state from 1963 to his death.

He cannot be replaced, unless they are still making heroes like that. And they aren't. Few good old boys or even boys who think they are good enough to call Daniel Inouye a good old boy are worthy of a thimbleful of his spit.

Inouye Way would be a fitting tribute to him. As for governing beyond the grave, I think it is absolutely outrageous that his choice of replacement was not respected. He made that choice on THIS side of the grave and when you ignore the recommendation of a man as immense as that, you could be forgiven if you thought something was coming at you from beyond the grave.

To me, it looks a lot like a hand grenade.

RE: Senator Daniel K. Inouye /US Shadowy Government - Chunkster - 07-18-2013

Yes, he was a war hero, hence the recommendation that his tribute be military. Makes sense. Once again, nobody will ever call Saddle Road anything else, so why name it after him?

As for his non-military politics, he represents the old school "wait your turn and let Uncle Daniel tell you what's best" school of thought. Do you suppose that might have something to do with this place being the worst in the USA for business formation. It might also have something to do with the brain drain of our youngest and brightest moving to the mainland to get decent careers. And no politician should get to pick their own successor. It perpetuates the inbred mess that is Hawaii politics.

And yes, this thread should be moved to the political forum.

RE: Senator Daniel K. Inouye /US Shadowy Government - Opihikaobob - 07-19-2013

I am quite impressed with this man and think that he was a hero several times over, and that is why his comments about a secret or shadow government are so important, and that intially was my main thought for this post "The Secret Government". That is why it is not posted under politics, because of the conspiracy angle.

RE: Senator Daniel K. Inouye /US Shadowy Government - Rob Tucker - 07-19-2013

I moved it to the politics section.

Interesting too me that no one seems interested in what the post was about:Senator Daniel K. Inouye talks about a /US Shadowy Secret Government.
A secret government with their own army , navy, air force, gee , And mentioned by someone most would call a real American hero. Nothing to see here , move along already.
Na, it's got nothing to do with the UFO covert spraying of this Island,
