Multiple shots fired lower Paradise - islandlvng - 07-21-2013
Starting about 830pm we would hear 1 shot about 15 minutes apart. 4 in total. All sounded like paradise dr. 930 saw several cops driving up and down our road.
1 shot heard way too close to home. Sounded like one street up and maybe 1-3 lots away.
Times must be getting real tough for people. I have lived here for over 25 years and can't ever remember all these murders, crimes, shots being fired all over.

A couple nights ago I heard 4 shots in rapid succesion lke a semi automatic on 15th st. Checked myself for bullet holes, none found, went back to sleep

No reni, up around 14th -16th I would imagine. 15th st could be right on.
Hereontheprimaledge, thanks for your opinion but......... I know what a gunshot sounds like. I know what a car back-fire sounds like. I know what fireworks sound like.
They were NOT fireworks. Very clearly gunshots. Big difference in noise and the way the noise travels. I doubt seeing 4 different police cars in a 5 minute period would be for fireworks. Neighbor up the road confirmed many police cars going up and down lower paradise and across many side roads for over an hour. Someone either driving around letting off a round here and there or someone on foot, either way, for sure traveling down paradise, not up and for sure gunshots.
Im sure police would not canvass that much area for some firecrackers nor would I waste my time posting about hearing gunshots if I was unsure. Mahalo

Gunshots.
I heard them too, even over a television roaring.
Two within 10 minutes, then a third at 8:42, and the fourth, over towards kaloli, at about 9:22.
Agree, in the vicinity of 12-16th, Kaloli side dead end.
After the first two, I donned full body armor, night glasses, set my drones airborne, and went outside to have myself a look and listen. Not firecrackers (though it's humorous people think so, or.... maybe not.). No cops around our area, though no real surprise there, frankly.
@$$holes and their f'guns.
I miss the 'aloha puna' I met once upon a time. What gives?

gunshots in a rural area are not unusual - as long as you dont here a wzzzzzzz before the pops, things are cool imho

Not there so I wouldn't know and likely gunshots. But no, it's not always easy to tell the difference between gunshots and some firecrackers and police do frequently respond to gunshots that turn out to be fireworks.

wow rainshadow, i am on paradise side and like I mentioned earlier, one was so close I swear it was just a couple properties from me. Small caliber handgun in my opinion. They must have been driving all over HPP.
The ones I heard were for sure on Paradise drive, I was out on deck when I heard 3 out of 4 from that direction. Each one got louder. The final one by my property was the one that sent me inside. Unmistakeable sound. And the way the cops responded between kaloli/paradise/makuu tells me they were in a frantic search.
Some friends down on 13th paradise/kaloli saw at least 8 cars, but could not tell if they were the same group of about 4 that I saw. I don't think they have 8 cops on duty in Pahoa but I could be wrong.
Just glad no one was murdered. Hpp has been in the spotlight too much lately.
