HPM Homes - What do you think? - wayne_and_polly - 10-19-2005

What does everyone think about HPM homes? We are planning to build the Lauhala model. Does anyone have any experience with building one of their homes?

it took me about 4 months to get mine but i had to get some enginnering done. ( tall posts and i needed a septic becuse i'm makai of 5th street ) Talk to Ronda at HPM she does a lot of the work for you if your getting one of there packages, and Tuesday Flores at Big Island Permitting did all the paperwork for me

Afater working with HPM for nearly a year we finally gave up on them and switched to Honsador. We've been told that there are great people to work with but we got stuck with Joquin in home planning and he was impossible to work with. Never returned calls, didn't follow through on wht he promised. Gave incorrect information to the draftsperson about our house which cost us time and frustration. Unfortunately the draftsperson took their frustration out on us and fired us as a client becasue of HPM's failures.

Glenn
I can relate. I started with Joquin and was very frustrated for reasons you stated. Fortunately, I got passed to Jeff Martin and it was like night and day. Jeff was easy to work with and very helpful. During my last trip, I happened into the Minit mart in Laupahoehoe and there was Jeff. He enthusiastically introduced me to his wife and we spent a few minutes catching up. I'm about to get some lumber quotes for the house, I'll be calling Jeff.

Hey Glenn,
We just started with Honduras last week.
They told us about 2 weeks to get septic eng.
and plans for a no change standard plan. 8 to 10 weeks for permit once submitted. We shall
see.

We found the people at Honsador to be very helpful and friendly. We are going to be doing most of the building ourselves and they even went out of their way to help us find good laborers who could help us. The extra time they spent with us was very reassuring after the bad experience at HPM. A few weeks for the septic sounds right. A friend recently got their building permit in 6 weeks so maybe they are catching up with the big surge in new building permits.

Seeb,
We were planning on doing our own paper work.
But this Big Ialnd Permitting might be something to consider. I haven'tbeen able to locate info for them online. If you could steer
me in the right direction, I would appreciate it very much.
thanks
