what is going on in this yard? - sputnut - 08-27-2013 google maps lat long.. 19.579207, -155.000464 comin' your way soon! RE: what is going on in this yard? - Carey - 08-27-2013 It looks like the round things are piles of red cinder that they are laying out in stripes down their lot... the small white rectangle NE of the house, near the property line, within one circle is most like an ATV or other small trailer used for spreading & it looks like nearby is a larger rectangle tarp...& a little up the property line may be on huge grey rock left from the land clearing. The dark circle in back of the house & just S of the white pickup is the water catchment tank Red cinder are used a lot as a yard base...they are light weight & are a good plant medium (like the red cinder sold in bags in the garden venters by you as 'cinder mulch') ADD: this is a very good example of 'Pin to pin' land clearing...nothing left on the lot after the D9 gets through... RE: what is going on in this yard? - Lin W - 08-27-2013 Looks like they've gotten a huge load of topsoil which they are now spreading over the back half of their lot, perhaps to garden? I am so much more like I am today than I ever was before! RE: what is going on in this yard? - sputnut - 08-27-2013 this is a rooster farm, right? 19.583935, -155.002988 WOW! you guys are up early! I have figured out most of the stuff, but the reddish brown lines on the ground were different. comin' your way soon! RE: what is going on in this yard? - Carey - 08-27-2013 YUP! (course some times they have blue plastic 55 gal drums), But the corrugated tents are the most common.... lots of 'show roosters here along with the feral ones! Up early? dawn is a breakin'! - usually the cinders are rolled or raked out & not as liney, think that Google just pict them right in the middle of the job! RE: what is going on in this yard? - sputnut - 08-27-2013 We have someone here who raises them as well, believe it or not... central Illinois..cockfighting mecca. He uses the blue drums. So, I know what to look for. (was just making sure) Thanks everyone. comin' your way soon! RE: what is going on in this yard? - sputnut - 08-27-2013 I just can't believe they allow that, anywhere. It's illegal to cockfight, so why is it allowed? That is OBVIOUSLY what's going on here. Just watch them for a few weeks, and you can catch several in the act eventually and put them all away. comin' your way soon! RE: what is going on in this yard? - ericlp - 08-27-2013 I don't partake in that and think like you do... But you should know that in Asia and Polynesian culture cock fighting is popular. So, just like the good foods, you get the bad parts as well. There will be a few things you don't like here in Hawaii and with a big diverse mix of culture here there will be plenty of good things you will like. So you have to adjust your thinking here when you get here. All I can say is "go with the flow"... Doesn't mean you have to change your view's but thinking you're gonna come here to change others views isn't going to happen. So relax and enjoy all the good the island has to offer. I hate to say you sometimes have to turn a blind eye but eventually in time things will change. I guess to sum it up... If you come here looking for the bad you'll find it, but I'd rather put my efforts into looking for the good. RE: what is going on in this yard? - ericlp - 08-27-2013 ooops double post RE: what is going on in this yard? - sputnut - 08-27-2013 I can overlook small things that don't affect me personally, but if I buy a house and some jerk moves in next door with 50 constantly crowing roosters, he's gonna have a "bad neighbor". I like privacy and quiet, and will give it to my neighbors so long as I get it from them. Is that really asking too much? I only would give what I get. His birds waking me up crowing every night, cops waking him up every night banging on his door till he moves. That's perfectly fair, isn't it? comin' your way soon! |
