More states likely to change pot rules, both sides say
When the Justice Department announced Thursday that it would not interfere with the enforcement of voter-approved laws that allow recreational pot use in Washington state and Colorado, leaders on both sides of the issue had the same thought: The policy will probably encourage other states to consider similar laws.

Will hawaii be next? Doubt it. More likely Oregon or California. Then maybe hawaii a few years later. That's my take.

I'm hoping our County Prosecutor will explain his interpretation of the intersection between the existing LLEP ordinance and the new DoJ guidelines; they seem mostly compatible, but I'm not a legal scholar.

I bet the airlines are going to capitalize on this by adding flights to both Seattle and Denver with the probable increase in "tourists".

There is one main reason the DOJ is not fighting this. To do so they would end up in court. The DEA still says that Marijuana has no medicinal value, this would obviously be debated in this case and would obviously end up forcing the DEA to change the classification of Marijuana, instantly making it decriminalized in all 50 states. There are TOO many doctors that will testify it DOES have medicinal use and does NOT meet any of these requirements. DEA schedule Requirements:
Schedule I Controlled Substances:
"Substances in this schedule have no currently accepted medical use in the United States, a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision, and a high potential for abuse. Some examples of substances listed in Schedule I are: heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), peyote, methaqualone, and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine ("Ecstasy")."
Everyone knows that lumping in marijuana with heroin and LSD makes everyone else think the ones making that decision are ON LSD...
It is also not a narcotic so it would have to be legally removed from the other schedules too. The DEA does NOT want this fight in Court where they KNOW beyond a shadow of doubt that they would ultimately lose.

The better resorts already have shuttle busses so the stoners can go sightseeing without operating dangerous machinery. Seems to me the State should be capitalizing on this as a fantastic tourism opportunity; neither WA nor CO have tropical beaches...

some of the national papers are running stories using terms like "prohibition is over" ...
on the other hand .... the last two states in the nation that do not have any form of gaming are Utah and Hawaii, I believe
places like cancun compete for the drug tourist dollar as well
I do think the gold standard is quickly becoming the cannabis standard, bit coin as the means of redemption - grin
