Hawaiian Airlines has announced wide body "nonstop" service from Kona to LA and also Oakland starting next Summer.

So if you arrive in Kona at 11:00am, what's the best way to get over to the east side? Haven't you already missed the bus to Hilo?

There's a bus that leaves Kona KMart at 4pm, gets in to Hilo bus terminal at 7.

So even though you arrive on the Big Island at 11 o'clock in the morning and if your only way to get to the east side is the bus, you don't really arrive "home" in Puna until around 8 o'clock in the evening.
I wonder if you'd get to Puna quicker going LAX-Honolulu-Hilo.
