HPP TV reception - Akamai - 11-10-2013

I know this has been asked before but I don't remember the answer. Is there any TV reception (via the airways) in HPP especially near Kaloli Point?

You should get roughly 11 channels IF you have the right antenna. Less if you don't.

This thread seems to be the most useful: http://www.punaweb.org/Forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14790&SearchTerms=orchidland,tv

Here is a recent thread with info about over the air antennas, and what channels / networks are available on the east side and in HPP:

RE: HPP TV reception - H22 - 11-11-2013

Channel 13.1 (NBC) & Channel 13.2 (CBS) have trouble in lower HPP-- both as reported by other OTA TV viewers, and on paper.

Channel 13.2 is rebroadcast on Channel 45, so CBS programming is available. On paper, NBC on 13.1 should have "spotty" coverage on Kaloli Point, so it just depends on where you are and what's in the way (trees, etc).

Channel "13" is broadcasting with less power and/or from a shorter tower; fade (rain or otherwise) is a serious problem that somehow doesn't affect any other station.

Ironically, this happens during Hawaii Five-0, so I've wondered whether I should write them a letter explaining that I can't watch their signature show even though I live in the state where it's produced.

I live in lower HPP and can't get NBC (channel 13.1) at all. But fortunately NBC.com plays most of their TV shows on-line the day after they are broadcast which I then just stream right to my wifi TV. Works great and only a day late

Ironically, many people who get their TV via OTA also cannot get broadband.

Related: when Blockbuster shut down, they cited the "people would rather stream it anyway" argument. I guess Blockbuster was a first-world phenomenon.

Not "here in Puna", rather "up there in Hilo" (ha, ha).
