That cottony stuff under my plant leaves? - Kelena - 11-12-2013
I got these really nice little dwarf plumerias, with really healthy looking green leaves. In a matter of a couple of weeks they developed splotches on the leaves. I peeked underneath and I see a thin line of cottony stuff under them. I sprayed that with copper fungicide but am not sure if that is the right thing to use as I saw some more on the new growth.
Any ideas what that might be and how to kill it? I really like these little plants.

I don't know the names of all the bugs, but Organocide works great on all of them so far, available at most any farm supply.
If it seems expensive, note that it's a concentrate.

Kelena, they might be mealy bugs. Try rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip or a fine spray of rubbing "A" from a plastic bottle. Easy does it at first.

You can also try a systemic insect killer, such as the one made by Bayer. Don't use it on fruit trees, but it works great.

Mahalo nu loa, kalakoa, Susan and Justin -- I tried the rubbing alcohol...whatever they are, they hate it. Gone. I did lose some leaves, but the plant is growing and thanks for the tips on the systemics -- that never occurred to me.
