Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! RE: S C U B A S U N D A Y - pslamont - 08-05-2007 Uquestionably my BEST HILO SIDE DIVE EVER was today. It was a little rough and tumble, poor visibility..... awesome! Like the old challenge I am used to in San Diego. We had 12 divers... probably the first time we had more divers than bbq-ers.... but the food was wonderful. Jane surprised us with another Gourmet Delight... shrimp rolls.... bob cooked all kinds of stuff on the BBq I never saw, and I got chocolate brownie cupcake thingis. There was tons more I didn't tasts, except Andrew's deviled eggs, which I consumed with full lust! Anyway, GREAT day. Thanks to all our new dive friends for joining us and we hope to see you next month. Diver Dan: It was so fun to figure out where I knew you from. This New Diver (to our club) was on the boat in San Diego when the captain lost me on a night dive....or did I lose the boat? That's still open to debate but I can't believe I met someone in Hawaii who knows "THE LOBSTER LADY"... Heheheheh Thank you everyone for a wonderful day. Pam Just another day in P A R A D I S E !! RE: S C U B A S U N D A Y - jm minica - 08-05-2007 I wish I could have made it, but I had to work....I love the scuba Sundays, and I hope to be able to make it next time. Aloha, Mark RE: S C U B A S U N D A Y - pslamont - 08-05-2007 We sure miss you Mark. Once I get some things settled out here at the ranch, I would like to join you on a fishing/camping trip. RE: S C U B A S U N D A Y - Andrew - 08-07-2007 Photos from last Sunday here for whoever is interested: http://divehilo.com/Aug5-07/index.html Andrew ______________________________ DiveHilo Dive Club Website: http://www.divehilo.com/ RE: S C U B A S U N D A Y - mella l - 08-07-2007 Thank you for the pictures, they are spectacular! How far out does one have to go at Richardson's to see some of these beautiful fish and turtles? Can it be done with a snorkel? mella l RE: S C U B A S U N D A Y - Andrew - 08-07-2007 Hi Mella: Thanks, it's a lot of fun to take them. There's an area of protected water at Richardson's Beach (Protected by a natural lava and coral reef) which is several hundred feet long by a few hundred feet wide where the water ranges from waste deep to maybe about 7 feet deep. This area is great for snorkelers and beginner divers. Here it is possible to see a surprising number of fish and even turtles with just a mask, snorkel and fins. All of the underwater pictures in this last set were taken out past the protective reef area in water that ranged from about 25 feet to 80 feet deep. The photos of Scott and the turtles was probably around 40 feet deep. It is possible to snorkel out beyond the reef and you can see some marine life but not to the degree possible while diving. Hope you make it out to a SCUBA SUNDAY sometime. Aloha, Andrew quote: ______________________________ DiveHilo Dive Club Website: http://www.divehilo.com/ |
