Hey Cat,

I just came across an extension ladder, 1 6 ft stepladder and 1 brand new five gal bucket of paint from ICI/Dulux - oat cake, not even opened. I'll sell it to you cheap - $500!

We recently purchased a lot in Vacationland and were told that crime was minimal in the community.
I have been following punaweb for a while and was wondering if anyone else has had problems in this subdivision?

RE: Theft in Vacationland - bananahead - 12-17-2013

chillax, crime is everywhere on Earth...

lets find this guys ladders and paint, it sucks when you cant leave big bulky stuff outside when you own a small lot where everything is visible and within a few feet of passer-bys...
might be a neighbour??? if not, takes balls to carry a ladder and stick it in a truck where your real neighbours might see them... if happen up here, 'roachin kooks easily get shot doing that

Usually it is pretty minimal. I think in 2011 - we had one breakin the whole year. And with all the other breakins and thefts that have happened in other neighborhoods, this is a pretty small kine.

My husband called it a crime of opportunity. The painter had left the ladders up for weeks using them... but there were house sitters around and for this brief 4 hr period of time no one was home.

We have ideas on suspects but no proof so whatcha going to do?

RE: Theft in Vacationland - rainyjim - 12-17-2013

Sorry to hear of this Cat, the biggest loss is obviously your feeling of security not the paint or ladders. I hope that you and yours can reconcile any mental anguish / worries this incident may spawn. Best to move on and spend time with the things of the island you love and cherish. Happy Holidays!

RE: Theft in Vacationland - rainyjim - 12-17-2013

Also if you haven't already maybe going door to door with the ole 'knock n talk' would be of use. If it was someone in the neighborhood they'll probably suspect you suspect them as the culprit if you show up knocking on the door ... Also who knows maybe you'll catch a glimpse of some of the evidence.

RE: Theft in Vacationland - Kapohocat - 12-18-2013

Actually PO's went to all the houses in the line of sight and asked if anyone saw anything. Caused a little buzz in our neighborhood.

The suspects know we know and they know that a report was filed too. At this point, that is all we can do.

Yah, it isnt the stuff, it is the feeling of leaving home and wondering...

RE: Theft in Vacationland - ericlp - 12-19-2013

that sucks hope you get your stuff back. I got my ladder chained up... But anyone with a bolt cutter or a battery operated sawsall could get it quick. What ya gonna do? I don't have a shed to store it in. Plus I got about 8 gallons of paint left over ... Would be bummed if I came home to a missing extension ladder and paint.

If you need to barrow a ladder I'd loan you mine. Smile

Cheers!

Eric
