Food Truck - Guest - 01-25-2014 I was unable to find any information on a food truck or food cart rules and achieving license for Hilo or Puna. Everything I seem to find is for Honolulu. Anyone have any suggestion ? Many Mahalos RE: Food Truck - Rob Tucker - 01-25-2014 There are a couple food trucks in the area. Stop in and ask them. RE: Food Truck - Obie - 01-25-2014 The rules are from the State DOH so they are the same in Honolulu and Puna. 172 page document http://health.hawaii.gov/san/files/2013/10/Chpt-50-Public-hearings-ver-w-headers-3-4-13.pdf RE: Food Truck - spunky - 01-25-2014 I know the Mexican food truck parked on Kilauea near the radio station is for sale. They said they have a certified kitchen. Not sure if that is the norm. RE: Food Truck - hikatz - 01-25-2014 The ad is still running. http://beverly.hawaiilife.com/successful-mexican-food-truck-for-sale-in-hilo/ This is a recent article that ran on food trucks in Hilo. http://bigislandweekly.com/sections/e/age-food-truck.html One of the problems will be finding a legal location to park a food truck and serve food. RE: Food Truck - Guest - 01-26-2014 hikatz, MOstly, Ive known food trucks can be parked anywhere there is legal standard parking. Is the rule different in Hawaii ? RE: Food Truck - hikatz - 01-26-2014 It depends, if you are talking about having your food truck in Puna, I doubt you will have a problem. Hilo can be difficult, we have known food trucks pick a location to set up, only to be told they cannot park there. There is the Farmer's Markets and the old Chevrolet dealership, both great locations. RE: Food Truck - Guest - 01-26-2014 I plan to get a Honda Element, which is not what you would consider a big food truck, its a small SUV, but plenty to house what I need to steam. It should fit in any stall, I wonder if the regulations on the food trucks are do to size ? RE: Food Truck - lavalava - 01-26-2014 Not size. More about health standards, permits, fees, etc. |
