Odd.... - Royall - 03-31-2014 Here in Puna lately, when a flash flood warning is posted, we haven't gotten that much rain. Today, at my house in HPP, it has rained almost none stop with very hard down pours most of the afternoon. Haven't seen any flash flood warnings posted.... Just an observation.... Royall Hale O Na Mea Pa`ani RE: Odd.... - PaulW - 03-31-2014 Yesterday there was, as far as I can recall, not a single drop of rain in (lower) HPP. RE: Odd.... - csgray - 03-31-2014 At 1:42 a flash flood was announced for Hilo, Puha, Ka'u and parts of Kona districts until 4:45 today. I saw it posted on weather underground. Carol RE: Odd.... - kalakoa - 03-31-2014 All weather forecasts and storm warnings for Puna are completely accurate ... ... except for the time, which is always off by a few hours or days. RE: Odd.... - BI-Curious - 03-31-2014 Paul; Do you think it rains less (in general) in lower HPP than in upper? Thanks! RE: Odd.... - Royall - 03-31-2014 quote: Strange... I usually get the warning sent to my email.... That's why I started this post...OOPS! [:I] Royall Hale O Na Mea Pa`ani RE: Odd.... - csgray - 03-31-2014 There is an area in HPP that is called "The Blue Hole" that is more or less from 10th to the ocean. It is sunnier there than farther mauka. Carol RE: Odd.... - Royall - 03-31-2014 Wish I could reach out and pull part of that "Blue hole" up to 13th!! LOL Royall Hale O Na Mea Pa`ani RE: Odd.... - PaulW - 03-31-2014 All I know is that when I drive up to H130 it's usually raining by the time I get to 15th street! Goodbye March, second-wettest month of the year (after November): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hilo,_Hawaii#Geography_and_climate ETA: Don't get me wrong, we had a drenching down here today too. RE: Odd.... - Mimosa - 03-31-2014 Rule of thumb - People always ask me when is the rainy season here. My reply is : From Jan 1st to Dec 31st. |
