Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - Carey - 04-03-2014 I found a handful of Malabar Chestnut seedlings under our tree (didn't realize it had fruited!) Info on the P. aquatica: http://westhawaiitoday.com/sections/news/local-features/malabar-chestnuts-offer-edible-nuts-beautiful-flowers.html Downtown Keaau email through forum of reply below Edited the wrong link to the right one RE: Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - shave_ice - 04-03-2014 Hi Carey! I would definitely like a seedling. Will you be around this weekend? Is there a time that would be best to come by? Mahalo! -Jordan RE: Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - Carey - 04-03-2014 Jordan, Even if we are not there, will leave the seedlings on the Ohana patio... but SHOULD be around (unless the inevitable run to HPM, HD, Ace...) RE: Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - shave_ice - 04-05-2014 Thanks Carey, I will stop by tomorrow (Sunday) morning, between 10-11. I will look for them if you're not there. -Jordan RE: Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - Carey - 04-05-2014 Will leave them out by the front of the blue truck... and there are some manila palm seedlings, if you would like any.. Take as many as you would like of each... Carey RE: Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - shave_ice - 04-08-2014 Mahalo Carey! I'm gonna try to braid a money tree once the seedlings get a little bigger. We'll see how it goes. [] P.S. I owe you for all the cuttings/seedlings you've given me. Is there any plant you've been looking for? RE: Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - Carey - 04-08-2014 Jordan I just fill in yard with plants & then have tooo many...& pass the extras along (I had not even realized that Malabar chestnut had fruited until I found the seedlings) I am on an eternal search for a Meyers LIME (not lemon)... got hooked on the limes at a house a friend rented years ago... seems to be the only Meyers Lime on island...someday...in my dreams.. I will have one! RE: Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - shave_ice - 04-09-2014 Carey, So I did an inquiry about the Meyer lime and Ken Love (who is one the top tropical fruit experts in the world) has never heard of it. Is it possible it was a sweet lime? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citrus_limetta If not, I think you need to go back to that house and get a cutting to graft it![] RE: Give away Malabar Chestnut Seedlings - Carey - 04-09-2014 The owner called it a Meyers Lime & it is lime looking, but larger (the size of a Meyers Lemon), juicy, with less acid taste & few seeds... & a heavy bearer... I asked at PlantIt Hawaii a few years ago & the lady there had heard of it, but had not seen one on island PS. Am trying to get that graft & have found someone that is interested in propagating scions (SP?) if I can get them... years ago I had gotten trimming from the tree & sprout a handful, but all turned into sticks during a week long trip... |
