http://westhawaiitoday.com/community-bulletin/attorney-hatori-s-autopsy-lists-homicide-manner-death

quote:
Hawaii County Police Chief Harry Kubojiri declined to comment Thursday morning on allegations raised by a Honolulu attorney about the February death of a man in police custody.

A Hawaii television station spoke Wednesday with Honolulu attorney Michael Green, who said the autopsy report of Randall Hatori listed the manner of death as homicide.

The police department last week issued a press release citing “cardio-respiratory arrest due to the combined effects of high levels of methamphetamine in his blood, an enlarged heart and a physical struggle” as the 39-year-old Kailua-Kona man. The release did not list a manner of death.

Homicide, by definition, does not carry a specific intention to cause death, but refers to death at the hands of another person, not necessarily murder.

If the autopsy report lists "homicide" as the manner of death, I think that HPD should man up and take responsibility.

So some criminal died at their hands, I doubt it was on purpose.
HPD should have encouraged the public to not resist arrest nor fight with police who are merely doing their job, instead of trying to shirk responsibility.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if you fight the police you could end up getting shot with a taser, or worse.

Don't be overweight, high on speed, run from the police and resist arrest when tackled. Then you won't have an enlarged heart, you won't be tased and you won't have a heart attack. Stupid is as stupid does. Respect to the HPD for their bravery and self sacrifice.

You are 8X more likely to be killed by a police officer than a terrorist.

Most terrorists have some sort of military or police training, JMO. (Environmental hazards) Our great nation is only raising more terrorists every day. Are cyber hacking bandits terrorists?, is Snowden a terrorist?, Is Roger Cristie of Hilo a Terrorist WHY?. Osama Bid Laden was what then?. P.S. 39 years old is to young to die, I feel awful for this man family and friends. I wonder if he would have died that day or night without Police intervention?. Some situations don't require an armed bulldog to show up at your door when a simple phone call from your local police station could derail some situations quicker. If police can get your physical address to respond, they could get a ## and call several minutes earlier,(could be a difference in saving lives, than costing lives)?.This also would give a heads up to what the officers can expect when they get there. He died in police custody, this is a tragedy, shame on HPD.

What I take issue with is the discrepancy between the press release from HPD which stated that Hatori's death was not a result of being shocked by an ECW, and the claim by the lawyer that the manner of death was listed as "homicide" on the autopsy report.

Who's lying?

Man, what a way to go out. Tazed and confused. Is it legal for a civilian to carry a tazer? Anyone know? Might help with nasty dogs.

No it's not illegal. There are even some small tazers that look like lipstick.
