If elected I will... - dakine - 05-06-2014

Hey what's with this vote for me stuff.. where the guy/gal asking doesn't even tell us what they stand for.. or if elected will do? I was going to one candidate's website looking for a list of what they think are the issues etc., and they didn't have anything about issues at all, just a bunch of vote for me stuff. And then another where yeah they listed issues.. but avoided saying just what they would do about them. What a crock! Are our elections really just popularity contests? Are our elected officials really that unprepared to fill the offices they wish us to elect them to.. and PAY them to hold? Is this really the state of politics in Hawaii?

So what? I mean I don't want.. nor would I ever ask anyone for anyone's vote.. but even I know what are the issues that are important to me. So.. I'll post mine here so as to insure that nobody will ever consider me as a candidate. As in with this I am surely committing political suicide long before I even get the itch to do otherwise.

So.. if elected (hahaha.. yes I did inhale!) these are the issues that I will work diligently to address:

- First and foremost I will stop all out of state tourism, commercial development, and all transfers of title to real property on all islands until the following issues are addressed:

- The question of Hawaiian sovereignty is addressed and answered to the satisfaction of the Hawaiian people.

- The invasive species issues are addressed and measures are put in place to protect the islands from them, both to eradicate existing invasive species, and prevent the introduction of new invasive species.

Without these issues being addressed I will work diligently to keep government from doing anything else! Once they are addressed I will:

- Put in place a tax that will be set at a dollar value equal to the carbon footprint being made, and to be paid at the time of purchase, on every round trip ticket purchased on an air carrier for travel into and out of the State of Hawaii when said travel itinerary begins and ends outside of the State of Hawaii.

- Ban for the foreseeable future (until proven safe) all GMO agriculture state wide, and require complete disclosure on all packaging of all foods for human as well as animal consumption of GMO ingredients.

- Require that the utility companies that burn fossil fuel that is imported into the state to prove their need to do so, verses any viable alternative that can be generated locally, regardless of what the up front costs may be.

- Require all agricultural producers that produce a product for export to demonstrate the importance of said product verses food grown for local consumption, otherwise be fined an amount that is equal to the cost of importing an equal amount of food from elsewhere, including a carbon based fine for out of state importation.

- Impose a 100% tax on all real property purchases by out of state residences.

- Require all candidates for political office, whether it be in the state or county govs or as a representative of the state, prove they are qualified to hold that position, via education and/or employment experience, before they can ask the voters to elect them. Further I will require all political candidates to state, in writing, what they intend to work on while in office, and if they fail to do so, or change their stance in mid term, they shall be subject to possible fines and/or removal from office.

- Exempt Hawaii from the Jones Act.

- Require all real property owners, and in the future all buyers, that are on active volcanoes to acknowledge that they understand this and do not expect the government to in anyway compensate them for damages done to their property by an act of nature. Further, I will remove all civil infrastructure from lava zones 1 and 2, and any other properties that are adversely effected by volcanic activity (such as VOG) on the Big Island, including schools and hospitals, and no longer support through government activities the further development of property in these areas. though otherwise I will not discourage it.

I probably could go on for some time.. but what I would really like is for a few 'real' candidates to post theirs! Anyone?

wow, dakine, that's some potent smoke you're inhaling. [8D]

These promises (bla bla bla ...) are all well and good, but I want to see some signage. I want to see some pics of you posing with either important people that you got next to in a meeting, or people I don't know giving you a hug or wearing one of your T-shirts.

I can't vote for a candidate who isn't selling cool T-shirts. [:p]
Apparently it is OK to misspell the name of your district on your campaign page -- Puma for Puna, for example -- if you have enough signs saying Elect DaKine.

ELECT ME is a very clear message to the voters. I don't know what more you need to know when you go to the polls. KISS as they say. [Wink]

This rule also needs to apply to any and all appointed positions.
