Whale Tracker - HereOnThePrimalEdge - 05-18-2014

Ever wonder where the whales go when they're off the coast of Hawaii? The Smartmine Whale Tracker has gathered data from over a period of several months, and plotted the movements (real time, but not live) for various species around the islands. There's a background of swirling ocean currents, or switch to wind direction. Choice of aerial, ocean, or nautical maps. I'm watching the swimming pattern for two individuals off the HPP coast right now.

(Interesting side note: If you click on the Nautical map setting, about 15 miles straight east of Hilo is a rather large area in the ocean marked "Explosives Dumping Area")

This is a very cool map. I wish I could figure out the different symbols & keys better.
