To me it seems like it's moving slower and slower. A good thing. I think the further the lava gets from the source the slower it gets. Unless Pu#699;u #699;#332;#699;#333; starts pumping out at a faster rate it will continue to slow and possibly stop as months roll on by. Shrug...

Just an observation. And of course it stops and cools down then when it begins again it will eventually build up the area and maybe start flowing back down the other side into the ocean once again.

Interesting times... Time shall tell.

Just fyi, when the lava slows down it could be because the lava "pools" up and it is possible that the pool instead of cooling off could actually burn a hole or "tube" system through whatever has slowed it down (lets say a low spot its filling in) - so point being it may actually be speeding up where you can't see it! Hope that makes sense!

If you look at the May 22 flow update, note that there small new flows that are to the east, north, NW and south on the pond being fed by the tube (yellow slashed line), so there is still a fairly large area of flowing lava with the potential of flow in most any direction.

Using the scale on the map, the flow looks to be about 4 miles from the outskirts of Pahoa, not that far in my opinion. Maybe a new tourist attraction in the making for Pahoa?

Thankfully, we have a dynamic and robust multi-lane road system complete with roundabouts to deal with the extra traffic.

time to start cleaning up the hot dog cart and maybe rent one of those platform lifts for the viewing!

Or, in reference to above, the lava in its own sluggish, confused path when it gets to the roundabout, it takes at least a month going around and around, trying to get the turn it wanted down right.

Are you a human being, or a human doing?

Does appear to be getting wider but not advancing to the highway. Stalling out for the moment.
