Hawaiian Acres Pizza - terrandshar - 06-04-2014

Anyone tried the pizza tent in Hawaiian Acres on 6 Rd, around E-F? Just wondering.... Smile

RE: Hawaiian Acres Pizza - fishenjim - 06-04-2014

just wondering if something like this is permitted/inspected /allowed by sub division. It sounds like something I might do.Panini's in paradise or wings over puna how bout breakfast in bedlum.I make some wicked good french toast with a local bakery's hawaiin orange bread can,t imagine how good it would be with actual Hawaiin bread.

Should of just tried it if it looked sanitary to you. This much publicity probably isn't good for it's longevity.

It can't possibly be, which only makes me want to go try it out. If it's still there.

RE: Hawaiian Acres Pizza - Lee M-S - 06-05-2014

it would be governed by the county, not subdivision, and probably need a certified kitchen. RIP?

Hawaiian bread French toast with coconut syrup and mac nuts. Heaven on a plate.

Certified kitchen and a Special Use Permit (translation: not happening -- drive to Hilo).

RE: Hawaiian Acres Pizza - bluesboy - 06-05-2014

why does every thread have to revert to a whine fest about the county/state?

RE: Hawaiian Acres Pizza - punaticbychoice - 06-05-2014

Remember the PCDP?
Why no real mechanism for this kind of thing in the subdivisions where the people and markets
are? Drive to Hilo.
After August 2010, public meeting in Keaau,
the PCDP is just a sham. It has been emasculated.
Electricity rates are too high, commercial rents are too high, and it is outlandishly too
expensive to do a small business here.
And there is little allowed commercial space in Puna.
Maybe instead of making it hard, it should be easier to do a small business here in Hawaii County.

I thought that was something the CDP's were supposed to help deal with.
Just who benefits from the current situation?
This question demands an answer from our County Council candidates and current members.

Right, because you can tell how sanitary food is just by looking at it...

To me I see income to the County. Business license, business tax, tax on the employee, etc. etc. why don't they see this. More importantly, it is jobs providing a service to the community. County should be giving incentives on retail space in Pahoa, or elsewhere to an individual, or group of partners to be able to sell what they have. Or help in the huge expense of a new restaurant? The infrastructure that it takes to take a raw space and create a certifiable kitchen is amazing, why not incentives/help there also? A reduction of building fees and plan check fees would certainly be a start, along with a "cheat sheet" or rep to guide you through the process to do it to their "standard" as to who governs and inspects, and when. Help a dream become a benefit to the community by becoming a local gathering place, employed by the community, benefiting all.

Are you a human being, or a human doing?
